Mission

Leadership brainery serves to diversify the workforce. The organization believes that exposure and development are the correct methods to pipeline more first-generation and diverse leaders into the workforce. Through various programs, which include, but is not limited to, the three (3) year ambassador program (the "ambassador program"), the organization focuses on the long-term development of its students, their preparation for graduate or professional schools and their successful careers. Leadership brainery strives to ensure that once its student leaders graduate college, they will be prepared to diversify top graduate and professional schools and become decision-making leaders within their industries.

FIRST- GENERATION AND DIVERSE COLLEGE STUDENT LEADERS (THE "AMBASSADORS") ARE SELECTED AMONGST A POOL OF NOMINATED RISING SOPHOMORES FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE AMBASSADORS RECEIVE THREE (3) YEARS OF LEADERSHIP, PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING, LSAT, GRE, GMAT AND MCAT MATERIALS AND PREPARATION, AND GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL ADMISSIONS PREPARATION AND SUPPORT. NATIONAL IMPACT SUMMIT - AT THE NATIONAL IMPACT SUMMITS DIVERSE AND FIRST- GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENT LEADERS ARE RECRUITED BY COMPETITIVE GRADUATE SCHOOLS AND COMPANIES. THE SUMMITS PRIMARILY FOCUS ON PERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL, AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT. THROUGH A VARIETY OF KEYNOTE PLENARIES, PANEL DISCUSSIONS, BREAKOUT GROUPS, AND EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAMMING, STUDENTS RESEARCHED THEIR OWN CAPACITY TO NOT ONLY MAKE CHANGE,BUT MANAGE IT. WE WERE ESPECIALLY CONCENTRATED ON HELPING OUR LEADERS IDENTIFY VULNERABILITIES AND OVERCOME INSECURITY. THE RECRUITMENT IS ESSENTIAL DUE TO THE LACK OF DIVERSE LEADERS IN EVERY INDUSTRY. FOR EXAMPLE, THE LEGAL PROFESSION IS SAID TO BE THE MOST NOBLE, YET IT IS ONE OF THE MOST NON-RACIALLY DIVERSE INDUSTRIES. ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION, THERE ARE 1,338,678 RESIDENT ACTIVE ATTORNEYS NATIONALLY. ROUGHLY 200,800 ARE MINORITIES. STUDENT RELIEF EFFORT - IN MARCH 2020, WE ENACTED OUR STUDENT RELIEF FUND AS AN IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK, WHICH HAS GRANTED 100+ DIVERSE, LOW-INCOME, AND LGBTQ STUDENTS WITH EMERGENCY AID. UNDERSERVED STUDENTS ENCOUNTER DISPROPORTIONATE HARDSHIPS THAT IMPACT THEIR ABILITY TO LIVE, LEARN, GRADUATE AND SUCCEED. THESE INCLUDE THE NEED FOR SAFE AND SECURE HOUSING, FOOD, INTERNET CONNECTION , MEDICATION, BOOKS AND MORE. TODAY THIS IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH WITH OUR CURRENT CRISIS. National ambassador fellowship - the leadership brainery's cohort-style ambassador program is an impact-driven diversity solution. First- generation and diverse college student leaders (the "ambassadors") are selected amongst a pool of nominated rising sophomores from around the country. The ambassadors receive three (3) years of leadership, professional and personal development training, lsat, gre, gmat and mcat materials and preparation, and graduate and professional school admissions preparation and support. The ambassadors also attend three (3) empowerment summits (featuring speakers who are experts and leaders in their respective fields) each year that enrich their capacities to make healthy choices, lead with confidence, be resourceful advocates and be responsible citizens. Through the ambassador program, the leadership brainery ambassadors become: qualified graduate and professional school candidates; qualified job candidates; equipped for graduate school exams, including: the lsat, the gre, the gmat and the mcat; educated on the graduate/professional school admissions process; familiar with diverse community/industries early in their college careers; confident individuals; responsible citizens; innovative and critical thinkers; exposed learners; relationship builders; impactful public servants; and change agents with a national network.

National impact summit - at the national impact summits diverse and first- generation college student leaders are recruited by competitive graduate schools and companies. The summits primarily focus on personal, professional, and leadership development. Through a variety of keynote plenaries, panel discussions, breakout groups, and experiential programming, students researched their own capacity to not only make change,but manage it. We were especially concentrated on helping our leaders identify vulnerabilities and overcome insecurity. The recruitment is essential due to the lack of diverse leaders in every industry. For example, the legal profession is said to be the most noble, yet it is one of the most non-racially diverse industries. According to the american bar association, there are 1,338,678 resident active attorneys nationally. Roughly 200,800 are minorities. Other sectors are just as non-diverse, including technology, finance, medical and entertainment. The leadership brainery believes it has a responsibility to address this disparity in leadership, representation and perspective amongst professionals.

Student relief effort - in march 2020, we enacted our student relief fund as an immediate response to the coronavirus outbreak, which has granted 100+ diverse, low-income, and lgbtq students with emergency aid. Underserved students encounter disproportionate hardships that impact their ability to live, learn, graduate and succeed. These include the need for safe and secure housing, food, internet connection , medication, books and more. Today this is at an all time high with our current crisis. Through our programming and the student relief fund, our intent is to ensure diverse and first-generation students have the resources and opportunities to survive and thrive.
