“The scarsdale business alliance (sba) was formed to support and promote the local business community in scarsdale. The sba works with local businesses, community members, local government, property owners, real estate brokers, and other community groups to help make scarsdale a thriving village. The sba also serves as the voice of the business community on a range of issues. The sba achieves these goals by running community events throughout the year and hosting networking and educational programs. Sba meetings: the sba board of directors meets throughout the year to discuss events, membership, budgeting, and other current issues. The sba president(s) runs these meetings. Meet & greet networking events: the sba runs approximately two to three meet & greet networking events each year, hosted at sba member businesses or other local venues. These events provide members with opportunities to network, share business resources, and strengthen relationships within the community, while also supporting membership recruitment. Destination scarsdale and the scarsdale farmers' market: destination scarsdale is an sba and village of scarsdale joint initiative designed to promote scarsdale's commercial and cultural offerings and strengthen the vibrancy of the village center. This initiative includes community programming, such as paint the 'dale and rock the 'dale, which encourages residents and visitors to spend time in the village and support local businesses. The sba introduced the sunday farmers' market in scarsdale's village center in 2023. Only one year later in 2024, with the sba having established proof of concept, an established management company took over operations. The farmers' market continues to provide sba members with opportunities to activate and advertise their businesses on sundays in scarsdale. The scarsdale business beat: the scarsdale business beat is a monthly e- newsletter launched in the fall of 2024. It connects residents with local businesses by promoting community events, highlighting local merchants, and sharing other community-focused content. The newsletter is hosted on the sba website and distributed through the sba's email listserv and social media channels. The business series presents: the business series presents event series, launched in 2023, provides educational programming and resources to local business owners and merchants. These events offer opportunities for sba members and non-members to learn from industry experts and participate in networking. Sba programming has included specialized events such as women in business that took place on march 5th and is designed to support and highlight women entrepreneurs and business leaders in the community. Recruitment and marketing: sba board members and the executive director actively recruit new members and manage membership dues collection. The sba promotes its activities and member businesses through online and social media channels, including its website, facebook, and instagram. Annual summer sidewalk sale: the scarsdale sidewalk sale is a long-running annual community event that the sba has managed since 2018. The event takes place each july and supports the sba's mission of increasing visibility and foot traffic for local merchants. The 2025 sidewalk sale was held july 24th-26th. Sba partnership with village of scarsdale: the sba and the village have a long history of partnering to support local businesses. The sba and village have formalized their partnership through a memorandum of understanding. That partnership continues to support improvements to local policies affecting businesses, including sidewalk caf permits and outdoor display regulations. Educational: the sba distributes educational information and materials regarding relevant laws, regulations, and business initiatives to help local businesses remain informed and supported.”
