| The 3rd Annual Alpine Aspen Festival was held on October 8-9, 2016. In partnership with the Friends of Hope Valley, AWG offered 30 educational activities and 14 educational booths. A total of 289 participants registered for activities and more than 850 people attended the event overall, generating about $2,500 for AWG programs in 2016-17. Over 50 volunteers assisted with the event, representing more than 30 organizations, businesses, agencies, and individuals.Twenty-eight volunteer water quality monitors served approximately 303 hours. Fourteen stream locations were monitored for a subset of the following water quality parameters: stream flow, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, turbidity, bacteria and nutrients, as well as photo monitoring and visual surveys.AWG held its second Earth Day event at Grover Hot Springs State Park on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Sixty-one volunteers attended and helped remove 150 pounds of invasive weeds and 100 pounds of trash from 104 acres of land including the meadow and campground area; 120 native plants and grasses planted at and around the native plant demonstration garden. The 18th Annual Markleeville Creek Day was held on September 9, 2017. A total of 68 volunteers participated in 8 restoration projects. Just a few of the on-the-ground volunteer restoration accomplishments throughout the Carson River watershed include: 600 feet of stream bank protected, 500 native plants established and 150 pounds of native seed dispersed, 150 pounds of invasive weeds and 150 pounds of trash removed from our creeks and riparian areas.A total of 150 volunteers participated in 40 different restoration and monitoring activities during 2017, contributing approximately 780 volunteer hours in these activities. The bylaws were changed to limit the voting members to only board members. All board members have the same voting rights.The reference to the Watershed Coordinator position was replaced with the Executive Director position as this is now the title of the lead staff member. This staff member is identified as an officer of the Corporation, and their duties include the day to day management of the organization.Language was added to provide guidelines to allow for the creation of an Executive Committee and Audit Committee at any time deemed appropriate by the board of directors. These committees would function at the discretion of the board of directors and would assist with the management of the business and affairs of the Corporation with some exceptions.”
