Searchers was organized by curator Dodie Kazanjian and featured 100 paintings, sculptures, and other imaginative objects created by artist Hadi Falapishi relating to The Great Elephant Migration.Presented in partnership with Newport Historical Society, Newport Restoration Foundation, and The Preservation Society of Newport, the exhibit explored themes of acceptance and curiosity, and emphasized the sense of misplacement that is tied to any act of migration.-$35,914
The art presentation, Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Ocean Front, 50 Years Later and Eric Mack,July 13 - Dec 29,2024, was an art exhibition presented at the Newport Art Museum,76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport RI.The exhibit was organized by curator Dodie Kazanjian, and featured original collages, drawings, archival materials, and documentary photographs by Gianfranco Gorgoni. These pieces offered a comprehensive look at the artistic process behind the Ocean Front project, Christo and Jeanne-Claudes first public work on the East Coast. Ocean Front involved covering the cove at Newport's King's Beach with 150,000 square feet of white woven polypropylene floating fabric using a custom boom and rigging system. Already famous for their environmentally-scaled installations that reimagined dramatic landscapes, Ocean Front marked the duos pioneering effort to temporarily cover a part of the sea. In conjunction with the Ocean Front exhibition, the Museum also featured a commissioned installation by New York-based artist Eric N. Mack. Known for his dynamic use of textiles and found materials, Macks work engages directly with the legacy of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, echoing the innovative spirit of Ocean Front by exploring the boundaries of fabric, form, and space.Presented in partnership with Newport Art Museum, the exhibit revisited the groundbreaking 1974 installation and highlighted what attracted Christo and Jeanne-Claude to Newport - the citys rich maritime history and architectural heritage provided a perfect canvas for their transformative vision.-$13,170
The art presentation, The Great Elephant Migration, July 4 - Sept 2, 2024, was an public, outdoor art exhibition presented at four locations in Newport, RI: Salve Regina University, Great Friends Meeting House, Roughpoint, and The Breakers. The exhibit was organized by curator Dodie Kazanjian. 100 life-size wooden elephants, traveling from east to west coast, were on display at the various locations. The sculptures were created by The Coexistence Collective, a community of 200 indigenous artisans in the Nilgiri Hills of South India. They are made from lantana camara, an invasive weed that encroaches on wildlife habitat.Presented in partnership with Salve Regina University, Newport Historical Society, Newport Restoration Foundation, and The Preservation Society of Newport County, the exhibit promotes human-wildlife coexistence as a solution to biodiversity loss.-$10,041
The art presentation, Kelsy Patnaude At Sea (with Cole Brauer), Oct 4, 2024 - April 28, 2025, was an art exhibition presented the Newport Art Museum, 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport RI. The exhibit was organizaed by curator Dodie Kazanjian. The artist, Kelsy Patnaude, followed Brauer's expedition, logging her journey week by week. Presented in partnership with Newport Art Museum, the exhibit featured an 100-foot panorama, created with photo-transfer, oil, graphite, and ink on linen, as well as other multimedia elements.-$3,017
