The organization's mission is to promote social welfare, including but not limited to 1) advocating for stronger environmental laws and policies to protect wildlife, the environment and human health, 2) educating the public about the importance of strong environmental laws and threats to the integrity of those laws, and 3) advocating for and against legislators and elected officials to further advance strong environmental protections. Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Electioneering: the center action fund worked primarily on state and federal elections in nevada and new mexico, providing the public and our members with information about candidates that were progressive environmental champions in these two states. We helped several candidates in these states win their primaries and general elections. The center action fund also developed a general set of "environmental champions" nationwide and provided information to the public about these members of congress.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Social welfare: the center action fund completed a comprehensive assessment of every state's endangered species act to protect wildlife and plants within their respective states, and analyzed the budgets of each state fish and game agencies. We created recommendations for each state to improve their respective laws and how to improve wildlife conservation in each state. This report was distributed to members of congress and to state agencies as a means to improve their conservation programs. The center action fund tracked legislation impacting endangered species, public lands, the national environmental policy act, and pollution/human health under the clean water act and clean air act. We advocated in favor of stronger laws and budgets for wildlife and pollution control, and provided the public with information regarding efforts to weaken the nation's key environmental laws.
