The mission of Stimulating Minds through Entrepreneurship and Leadership (SMEL) is to introduce the forces of entrepreneurship by exploring creative-thinking, critical decision-making, and unconventional methods. Through leadership, entrepreneurs will explore ten principles that will propel high self-esteem, confidence, and autonomy to be a recognized change-maker and community leader. We are confident that our revitalized change-makers and community leaders will be successful entrepreneurs and inspire many others to step out on faith.

|---|---|---|
| After-school Programs: Our program staff work throughout the New York City Metropolitan area educating children enrolled in grades Kindergarten through High School about the importance of financial literacy and pursuing entrepreneurship to increase financial wealth. Our impact in FY19: we have serviced over 500 students in public school. As a result of our work, 58% of our middle school students explored entrepreneurship and generated profits over $150 and 54.3% established a savings account. In addition, a recognizable improvement, 25% of partnering schools have established a food pantry to provide any homeless person(s) and low-income families with access to canned goods, water, vegetables, and more. In addition, 80% of our academic enrichment programs occurs during the school day. | $0 | $17,147 |
| Youth and Community Development Programs: In FY19, over 500 young people participated in SMEL's Entrepreneurship & Leadership Programs. Students participated in a rich and varied program, with program cycles focusing on Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Discovery & Design (STEM), and Health & Wellness. Elementary and Middle school students participated in five afternoons each week, during school holidays, and in an eight-week summer camp program. High school participants had access to our community centers for four hours each evening, and on the weekends for the thirty-six weeks of the school year, as well as summer camp. In addition, 83% of our participants declared a badge which demonstrated entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, problem-solving, service, and/or STEM skills. | $0 | $9,000 |
| Entrepreneurial Workshops: Through our entrepreneurship program, we conduct a variety of monthly workshops to raise awareness and appreciation of establishing and managing a small business. In FY19, we assisted 50 entrepreneurs with incorporation assistance. In these workshops, mostly adults, are provided resources and guidance to incorporate and secure intellectual property (Trademark, Copyright, Patent). In addition, program staff and other professionals volunteer by assisting these participants through the process and securing both state and federal documents. We also provide dozens of publications for free download through our website, including guidelines to help any person register a business. | $0 | $3,000 |
