Our mission is to cultivate resilience to environmental stress by supporting community, personal well-being, and vital ecological health. Through our efforts, current and future generations will live in a healthy, diverse, and regenerative environment. Because the world needs inspired and visionary activists who have the resilience to see us through these unprecedented times, our organization has partnered with the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America and the Climate Psychiatry Alliances and others to develop programs that nurture emotional well-being for environmental and social justice activists. In 2022, TRA offered a total of 166 events, workshops, courses, nature retreats, and speakers' bureau programs with 1,260 participants. Twenty-three professionals provided 879 volunteer hours as in-kind donations amounting to $62,747 for program development, management, and presentation.
Our mission is to build resilience, optimism, and hope in response to the impact of the climate crisis. We provide community building programs that offer inspiration, selfcare, and mental health support. Our programs are immersed in deep nature connection and designed to nourish positive ecological change.

| In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, we cocreated a Research Study on the emotional health of Environmental Activists in partnership with the Department of Psychology at the University of Kansas and other mental health professionals. In September of 2020, KU Psychology Department hosted fourteen 90 minute focus group sessions with two to four participants in each discussion group. The focus groups offered an opportunity for activists to share their thoughts, exchange ideas for addressing emotional concerns, build connections to like minded people in the community, and continue their resilience and recovery work. The results of this study are not yet released, but initial feedback has been very supportive of the programming we are offering through our Climate of Community: True Power for Climate Resilience and Recovery events. For these focus groups, the design and implementation of the research study, and the first stages of transcription, we received $18,150 in in kind hours from the professionals working on this project. The $700 expense was a small token of our appreciation to the graduate students who coordinated the fourteen focus group sessions and created detailed notes for each session. | $0 | $700 |
| Meditation People everywhere began experiencing severe emotional distress with the appearance of COVID 19 in March 2020. Many people were overwhelmed with fear for their health, uncertainty about their jobs and finances, and sorrow over social and physical distancing. For many people, these events resulted in anger, shock, resistance, panic, anxiety, and grief. These emotional reactions show up in our physical bodies in the form of muscle tension, headaches, digestive problems, and insomnia as we live in a perpetual state of fight, flight, or freeze. As a public service, The Resilient Activist began hosting a free, online resilience and meditation program for one hour every evening throughout the month of April 2020. This program was so well received, that we created our Sunday Morning Meditation and Resilience program, on Zoom. Throughout 2020, we have provided guided meditations and formal meditation instruction to more than 365 individuals, many of whom continue to participate regularly, for a total of 70 hours of programming. These programs are offered via in-kind donations totaling $7,515. | $0 | $0 |
| Ecological Angst programming and Climate of Community True Power for Climate Resilience and Recovery In February 2020, before we experienced public health measures in response to COVID 19, a group called True Power for Climate Recovery met in Lawrence, KS at Haskell Indian Nations University to discuss concerns about climate change and to mobilize effective strategies to address climate anxiety and eco grief. This group was the brainchild of Barbara Gilbert, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist currently in private practice in Lawrence, Kansas. In her work, Barbara addresses larger scale barriers to the healthy functioning of the whole community. She offers a psychology based path to True Power for Climate Resilience and Recovery. Concurrently, in 2019 and 2020, The Resilient Activist had been hosting monthly Climate Conversations and Ecological Angst Building Resilience for the Emotional Impact of Climate Change programs for a similar purpose. These two groups joined together, along with others, to continue our programming to support those who are concerned about climate change and ecological catastrophe. Through our Climate of Community True Power for Climate Resilience and Recovery events as well as our Ecological Angst programming, during 2020, we connected with 355 participants for 13.5 hours of programming. This programming was offered in kind for a combined donation of $3,215. | $0 | $0 |
| Visionary Activism Climate Conversations Building an ecologically supportive community is an important part of The Resilient Activists mission and our monthly Climate Conversations reflect this. In 2020, we hosted twelve events with topics that included Transformation of a Superfund Site to an Ecological Habitat, Exforming Grief, Climate Card Deck, Falling in Love With Nature, Resilience, Reconnecting to Nature, Native Wisdom, Conversations on the 2040 Movie and watch party, and interviews with Visionary Activists. Recordings of many of these events are on our YouTube Channel UCdMD4_4gzoIMJiJrcQEz3NA We hosted 26 hours of programming for 164 participants. In kind donations to coordinate and host these events totaled $3,025. | $0 | $0 |
