Eric chapman officer and lorenzo chapman officer are brothers. Vanessa martinez board president is the mother of eric chapman and lorenzo chapman. The chapman-martinez family have served as the backbone of the awoke since its founding, and are taking on program and leadership roles in the organization as it continues growing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Awokes board of directors has delegated authority over form 990 filings, and other similar filings, to the executive director who works closely with a financial consultant to review the organizations finances and a certified public accountant to prepare the filings. Upon completion of the filings, the completed forms are reviewed by the executive director and financial consultant and shared via electronic communication to the board of directors for ratification before they are submitted to the irs. Pursuant to the articles of incorporation and bylaws of awoke, authority is granted to the board of directors to take action by unanimous consent without a meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Pursuant to awokes conflict of interest policy, the board of directors, officers, and employees of the organization are required to disclose all ongoing relationships or interests that may present a conflict of interest annually so that the potential conflicts can be evaluated and addressed. Interested persons are not allowed to make the decision about whether a conflict of interest exists unilaterally. Furthermore, an interested person shall make an appropriate disclosure of all material facts, including the existence of any financial interest, at any time that any actual or potential conflict of interest or ethical question arises. Potential conflicts should be reported to the board president, executive director or other member of the governing body to be discussed by the governing body. At the beginning of every fiscal year awoke revisits its conflict of interest policy to ensure overall organizational compliance.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

As co-directors and officers of awoke, the compensation of the executive director, artistic director and creative director of the organization is determined by the board of directors in advance and is informed by comparability data from similar organizations locally prior to making decisions. The board documents the basis for its decisions concurrently with making the decisions. This process was last undertaken in december 2021.

Awoke made its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request. These documents are stored in a secure cloud server that can be accessed by the public with the appropriate permissions granted upon request. The documents are shared in electronic format, unless otherwise requested, in furtherance of environmental considerations.

BESIDES PLANNING EFFORTS, THE GR818ERS HOSTED COMMUNITY CLEAN UPS AND OPEN DANCE AND SKATEBOARDING SESSIONS FOR CURRENT PARK USERS TO GROW ACCUSTOMED TO CHANGING TIDES AT THE PARK. ON AVERAGE, 20 YOUTH AND ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN EACH COMMUNITY CLEAN UP - THREE CLEAN UPS WERE COMPLETED TOTALING 60 PARTICIPANTS. THROUGHOUT THE 6-MONTH PERIOD, FOUR OPEN SESSIONS WERE PRODUCED AVERAGING 15 PARTICIPANTS PER SESSION FOR A TOTAL OF 60 PARTICIPANT YOUTH.

PROGRAM SEASONS CENTER AFTER-SCHOOL YOUTH PROGRAMS, DROP-IN ACTIVITIES LIKE ONE-TIME WORKSHOPS, SEASONAL CULMINATING EVENTS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CREATION. UNITE ALSO SERVES AS A CULTURAL HUB FOR LOCAL PERFORMANCES, EVENTS, AND MEDIA PRODUCTION, AND A MEETING SPACE FOR COMMUNITY PARTNERS YEAR-ROUND. IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES WERE THE PRIMARY DRIVER OF PROGRAM PARTICIPATION BUT WITH THE LIFTING OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE WANED AND DEMAND FOR IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING GREW. THROUGH THESE EFFORTS, 90 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED DROP-IN DANCE SESSIONS, 1000 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED IN-PERSON EVENTS, AND OVER 21,213 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED VIRTUALLY IN ONLINE EVENTS AND CONTENT RELEASES.

DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, IN-PERSON PROGRAMS WERE NOT ALLOWED TO OPERATE UNTIL THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR, AND PROGRAM ATTENDANCE EXPERIENCED A CHILLING EFFECT BECAUSE OF THIS. HOWEVER, BY THE END OF THE YEAR THERE WERE NOTABLE INCREASES IN RECURRING PROGRAM ATTENDANCE AND A GROWING DEMAND FOR IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING.
