Bsh entered into a cost reimbursement agreement with the hotel and restaurant industry employment and training trust (hariett), an exempt organization, for services performed by hariett staff on bsh activities in the amount of hours spent by staff members. James p. Hardway, the president of bsh is an employee of hariett. The compensation for james p. Form 990, Part I, Line 1

The mission of banquet solutions hawaii, inc. (bsh) is to provide education, training, and job referrals to individuals who want to pursue jobs in high demand industries in the state, including, but not limited to, the healthcare, technology, and hospitality industries. The job referral function includes temporary employment services to displaced workers that will provide wages and healthcare, on-the-job training (ojt), and job placement.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 1, BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION:

The mission of banquet solutions hawaii, inc. (bsh) is to provide education, training, and job referrals to individuals who want to pursue jobs in high demand industries in the state, including, but not limited to, the healthcare, technology, and hospitality industries. The job referral function includes temporary employment services to displaced workers that will provide wages and healthcare, on-the-job training (ojt), and job placement.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4A:

Apprenticeship & on-the-job training bsh assisted twenty-one (21) students into internships, nine (9) of those students were assisted into job placement after internship completion. Bsh staff assisted seven (7) acute care nurse aide ("acna") and medical assisting ("ma"). Bsh conducted ojt/internships for pharmacy technician trainees at various pharmacies across the state. Bsh staff placed twenty-eight (28) pharmacy technician students into ojt and employment. Seventeen (17) high school pharmacy technician students were placed into seventy-five (75) hours of ojt. Five (5) students from uhmc were placed into one hundred twenty (120) hours of ojt at cvs locations. Three (3) students from kcc and three (3) students from lcc are also placed in their one hundred twenty-120 hours of ojt. [hana grant] bsh staff worked with kaiser permanente to reestablish a pharmacy technician externship program and successfully placed thirty-five (35) pharmacy technician students into a paid ojt and employment. Staff assisted nine (9) agricultural technician intern ("agconnect") students for a 128-hour internship over the span of eight (8) weeks. Five (5) out of the six (6) ag connect students successfully completed their internship. Bsh staff coordinated 3d cad advanced manufacturing ("3d cad") student referrals from uh maui college and two (2) 3d cad intern students were placed in 80-hour internships. Bsh staff coordinated referrals of four (4) students/employers from the kapiolani community college dental assisting program.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4B:

Training kitchen bsh entered into partnership with ryse hawaii, which provides housing and support to homeless youth and youth aging out of the foster care system. Bsh provided job training in culinary arts along with job readiness, in a 2,000-hour state of hawaii registered apprenticeship program at the training kitchen. This was supported through contracts with non-profit s to provide food to at-risk groups, as well as one with a for-profit entity. A total of twenty-five (25) students apprenticed into the kitchen during their education courses. Three (3) of those students opted to complete rouxbe online culinary school program. A total of sixteen (16) students joined the bsh professional cook program; four (4) students dropped out of the program; twelve (12) students completed and graduated the program; eight (8) of the graduates were offered employment by signatory establishments; and eleven (11) individuals were hired at the signatory establishments.

FORM 990, PART III, LINE 4C:

Education and training the bsh professional cook program (200 hours), in partnership with the hotel and restaurant industry employment & training trust (hariett), the city and county of honolulu and the university of hawaii honolulu community college held two (2) cohorts with sixteen participants. A total of twelve (12) students have graduated and were placed into the training kitchen apprenticeship or direct employment. Bsh also facilitated the recruitment and training of incumbent workers in lower paying healthcare jobs to become licensed practical nurses. The cna-to-lpn bridge program was created to develop the lpn workforce in hawaii by supporting working entry-level healthcare workers' ability to pursue lpn education while remaining in the workforce. The program also enabled those entry-level healthcare workers to complete the lpn program within one year, rather than the one and a half to two years that it takes a typical lpn student to complete the program. In 2023, bsh began its work with the lpn innovation team and facilitated in the development of the kaiser permanente cohort from recruitment to selection to completion. Bsh also opened its training space to be utilized as a classroom for the lab component of the kaiser lpn cohort. In partnership with kaiser permanente, unite here! Local 5, and the university of hawaii community college system, eleven (11) students completed their training. Ten (10) students passed state licensure and were promoted to lpn positions.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Bsh is classified as a nonprofit corporation, and is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the irc. Although bsh is exempt from federal income taxes, any income from activities not directly related to its tax-exempt purpose may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Bsh has evaluated its tax positions and believes that there are no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements. In general, bsh's tax returns remain open for u.s. Federal examinations by tax authorities for three years from the date of filing.

[HANA GRANT] BSH STAFF WORKED WITH KAISER PERMANENTE TO REESTABLISH A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM AND SUCCESSFULLY PLACED THIRTY-FIVE (35) PHARMACY TECHNICIAN STUDENTS INTO A PAID OJT AND EMPLOYMENT. STAFF ASSISTED NINE (9) AGRICULTURAL TECHNICIAN INTERN ("AGCONNECT") STUDENTS FOR A 128-HOUR INTERNSHIP OVER THE SPAN OF EIGHT (8) WEEKS. THE CNA-TO-LPN BRIDGE PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO DEVELOP THE LPN WORKFORCE IN HAWAII BY SUPPORTING WORKING ENTRY-LEVEL HEALTHCARE WORKERS' ABILITY TO PURSUE LPN EDUCATION WHILE REMAINING IN THE WORKFORCE.
