“New services 2022 was a historic year for space for humanity as we delivered on our primary mission and sent two citizen astronauts to space. Our accomplishments made global news, expanding our impact exponentially. It was an incredible year for furthering the democratization of space. The collective impact of our citizen astronauts is our greatest legacy, and both of our citizen astronauts have accomplished incredible feats since their flight. Program accomplishments: 1.space for humanity sent two citizen astronauts to space in 2022, katya echazarreta and sara sabry. Katya represented the first mexican-born woman to go to space, and sara was the first african + arab woman, as well as the first egyptian person to go to space. Both have been trained in our citizen astronaut program, including physical, psychological, emotional, and mental preparation, as well as practical application of the perspective gained post-flight. Some highlights of their post-flight work include educational tours of their countries, magazine covers, and working to pass policy in their home counties. 2.in 2022, our application reach spanned the globe. Applications were open from august 1 to november, and s4h amassed 2,921 applications from 137 countries. Additionally, we iterated on our selection process, focusing on unbiased assessment. The assessment evaluates applicants based on their leadership, community development, and impact. 3.space for humanity created a specific training program for citizen astronaut finalists, understanding that at any moment an alternate ca may be selected to replace a previously selected candidate. Those alternates must be as prepared for a potential space flight as possible and s4h is providing mental preparation and post-flight leadership, community development, and impact programs for those individuals.”

“Citizen astronaut program space for humanity's goal is leveraging the transformational power of the overview effect to enact positive change here on earth. The perspective astronauts gained in the spaceflight experience has shaped society in extraordinary ways. We aim to give more people access to this experience to help humanity improve our relationship with each other and our home planet. We sponsor exceptional leaders to join the world's first citizen astronaut program and the application to our program is open to everyone in the world. Our leadership, community development, and impact program (lcdi) prepares our citizen astronauts for their spaceflight, supports them in integrating their flight experience, and upon their return, they are trained in community leadership and advocacy work so they know how to implement the overview perspective here on earth. In 2022, space for humanity sponsored two individuals to go through this program and 5 who went through the ldci program as finalists to go to space.”
