Mission
SCHEDULE O
Kams foundation aims to affirm and empower underprivileged youth through sports while providing mentorship and educational opportunities for life skills and character development. Through this development, kams encourages youth to love others, dream big, be passionate, embrace confidence, have fun, and excel in the game of life.kams uses sports as a vehicle to teach youth our four core values (affirmation, mentorship, character development and life skills) and help them become positive contributors to society. Research shows a child's involvement in sports helps them to increase and improve their social interaction, increase their confidence, and improve their teamwork skills, listening skills and overall health. Participation in sports has been linked to studies to higher grades, lower dropout rates and lower crime rates.

| AFFIRMATION BALL INITIATIVE - THROUGH KAMS FOUNDATION WE WANT TO AFFIRM THE "SPECIAL" IN EACH AND EVERY CHILD WE WORK WITH. WE WANT THEM TO RECOGNIZE AND BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE "SPECIAL AND WE WANT THEM TO APPRECIATE THE UNIQUENESS OF THEIR "SPECIAL", WHICH WILL LEAD THEM TO LIVE MORE PRODUCTIVE, POSITIVE, JOY FILLED LIVES. WORDS ARE LIKE WEAPONS; THEY CAN BUILD UP OR TEAR DOWN AN INDIVIDUAL. YOU THE KNOW THE OLD SAYING, "STICKS AND STONES WILL BREAK MY BONES, BUT WORDS WILL NEVER HURT ME. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. WORDS HAVE POWER AND AT KAMS WE WANT TO USE THAT POWER TO BUILD UP YOUTH. AT THE CONCLUSION OF OUR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM WE HISTORICALLY HAVE GIVEN EACH CHILD THEIR OWN AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALL THAT HAS POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS WRITTEN ON IT, JUST FOR THEM, BY THEIR COACHES. KAMS COACHES TELL THE KAMS KIDS THAT WHEN THE WORLD THROWS NEGATIVE WORDS, OR IDEAS AT THEM ABOUT THEMSELVESWE WANT THEM TO READ THE TRUTHS THAT ARE WRITTEN ON THEIR AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALL AND BELIEVE THESE WORDS ABOUT THEMSELVES AND WHO THEY ARE AND EMBRACE THESE WORDS ABOUT THEMSELVES AS A PART OF WHAT MAKES THEM "SPECIAL".KAMS' ENTIRE CURRICULUM IS BASED ON SEL (SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING), WHICH INCLUDES THE IMPACT OF INCREASING THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR BELIEF SYSTEMS. THE AFFIRMATION BALL INITIATIVE AIMS TO PROVIDE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS ON A SOCCER BALL WHICH IS THEN GIVEN TO A YOUTH. KAMS CREATES AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALLS TO ACT AS A REMINDER TO YOUTH OF THEIR WORTH AND HOW SPECIAL THEY ARE. WE BELIEVE AFFIRMING WORDS:- CAN SPARK A CHILD TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT FEATS-INSTILL CONFIDENCE AND COURAGE-HELP THEM TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE PRECIOUS AND UNIQUE-CONVINCE THEM THAT THEY ARE WORTHY OF LOVE AND BELONGING-ENCOURAGE THEM TO SEE THEMSELVES THE WAY GOD SEES THEMAND SO MUCH MORE!WHEN THIS SEASON OF COVID AND THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC CAME UPON US, WE BECAME UNABLE TO CONDUCT OUR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS IN PERSON. IN AN EFFORT TO DEVELOP A WAY TO CONTINUE HAVING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY, KAMS CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO DO A MORE GENERIC AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALL THAT WOULD HAVE POSITIVE TRUTHS AND ENCOURAGING WORDS AND PHRASES WRITTEN ON IT TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO YOUTH THAT WE HADN'T HAD THE HONOR OF WORKING WITH OR MEETING IN PERSON. THIS BEGAN OUR NEW AFFIRMATION BALL INITIATIVE (OUTSIDE THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM)KAMS FELT THAT THE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS WOULD HELP THE YOUTH BATTLE ADDITIONAL NEGATIVE ASPECTS IN THEIR LIVES THAT MAY BE GENERATED WITH ALL THE CHANGES, STRESS, AND COMPLICATIONS THAT CAME WITH THE PANDEMIC. KAMS DECIDED TO START WITH SOME OF THE MOST VULNERABLE YOUTH IN OUR POPULATION. WE CHOSE TO BEGIN OUR FOCUS ON CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE AS CONCERNS BEGAN TO MOUNT THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE AN INFLUX OF CHILDREN INTO THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM WITH THE PANDEMIC BEING ASSOCIATED WITH ISOLATION AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES WHICH COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN A SPIKE IN CHILD ABUSE AND/OR NEGLECT.KAMS BEGAN TO REACH OUT TO FOSTER CARE AGENCIES AND DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM TO SERVE THE CHILDREN THAT THEY SERVE. KAMS VOLUNTEERS DOVE IN DONATING HOURS OF TIME WRITING POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS ON THE SOCCER BALLS TO PROVIDE ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE TO THE YOUTH. THESE INITIAL 250 AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALLS WERE GIVEN TO SUNSHINE FAMILY SERVICES, AN INLAND EMPIRE BASED COMPANY, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THE FOSTER CHILDREN WHO ARE A PART OF THEIR PROGRAM. WE BELIEVE AFFIRMING WORDS:- CAN SPARK A CHILD TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT FEATS-INSTILL CONFIDENCE AND COURAGE-HELP THEM TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE PRECIOUS AND UNIQUE-CONVINCE THEM THAT THEY ARE WORTHY OF LOVE AND BELONGING-ENCOURAGE THEM TO SEE THEMSELVES THE WAY GOD SEES THEMAND SO MUCH MORE!WHEN THIS SEASON OF COVID AND THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC CAME UPON US, WE BECAME UNABLE TO CONDUCT OUR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS IN PERSON. IN AN EFFORT TO DEVELOP A WAY TO CONTINUE HAVING A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY, KAMS CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO DO A MORE GENERIC AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALL THAT WOULD HAVE POSITIVE TRUTHS AND ENCOURAGING WORDS AND PHRASES WRITTEN ON IT TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO YOUTH THAT WE HADN'T HAD THE HONOR OF WORKING WITH OR MEETING IN PERSON. THIS BEGAN OUR NEW AFFIRMATION BALL INITIATIVE (OUTSIDE THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM)KAMS FELT THAT THE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS WOULD HELP THE YOUTH BATTLE ADDITIONAL NEGATIVE ASPECTS IN THEIR LIVES THAT MAY BE GENERATED WITH ALL THE CHANGES, STRESS, AND COMPLICATIONS THAT CAME WITH THE PANDEMIC. KAMS DECIDED TO START WITH SOME OF THE MOST VULNERABLE YOUTH IN OUR POPULATION. WE CHOSE TO BEGIN OUR FOCUS ON CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE AS CONCERNS BEGAN TO MOUNT THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE AN INFLUX OF CHILDREN INTO THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM WITH THE PANDEMIC BEING ASSOCIATED WITH ISOLATION AND ECONOMIC CHALLENGES WHICH COULD POSSIBLY RESULT IN A SPIKE IN CHILD ABUSE AND/OR NEGLECT.KAMS BEGAN TO REACH OUT TO FOSTER CARE AGENCIES AND DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM TO SERVE THE CHILDREN THAT THEY SERVE. KAMS VOLUNTEERS DOVE IN DONATING HOURS OF TIME WRITING POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS ON THE SOCCER BALLS TO PROVIDE ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE TO THE YOUTH. THESE INITIAL 250 AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALLS WERE GIVEN TO SUNSHINE FAMILY SERVICES, AN INLAND EMPIRE BASED COMPANY, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO THE FOSTER CHILDREN WHO ARE A PART OF THEIR PROGRAM. WE CONTINUED TO DEVELOP ADDITIONAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER AGENCIES IN OUR COMMUNITY AND THANKFULLY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DONATE AN ADDITIONAL 250 AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALLS TO FOSTER CARE CHILDREN THROUGH TWO ADDITIONAL LOCAL AGENCIES (SERENITY FOSTER CARE AND BUILDING BRIDGES).KAMS ALSO DONATED AFFIRMATION SOCCER BALLS TO RISING AGAINST DISABILITIES (RAD) AND HOMELESS AND POVERTY STRICKEN YOUTH.KAMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH MORE AGENCIES THAT WORK WITH VULNERABLE AND/OR MARGINALIZED YOUTH IN AN EFFORT TO AFFIRM AND EMPOWER MANY MORE YOUTH TO EXCEL IN THE GAME |
