Mission

Scholars at risk (sar) is an international network of institutions and individuals whose mission it is to protect scholars, promote academic freedom, and defend everyone's freedom to think, question and share ideas.

Scholars at risk (sar) is an international network of (see schedule o for continuation (s))institutions and individuals whose mission it is to protect scholars, promote academic freedom, and defend everyone's freedom to think, question and share ideas. By arranging temporary academic positions at member universities and colleges, sar's protection team offers safety to scholars facing grave threats, so scholars' ideas are not lost and they can keep working until conditions improve and they are able to return to their home countries. Sar also offers advisory services for scholars and host institutions; campaigns for scholars who are imprisoned or silenced in their home countries; monitors and reports on attacks on higher education communities worldwide; and deploys new tools and strategies for prommoting academic freedom and improving respect for university values everywhere, including online courses, in-person workshops, webinars and related materials.
