Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Camp Shield is a divisional dba of After Military Service (AMS), a 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 2017. AMS strives to support the personal and professional success of Veterans and their families by increasing resiliency, life satisfaction and empowering our nation's military families. Camp Shield's mission, as a division of AMS, strives to empower female Veterans - emotionally, socially, and physically, to ensure she thrives after military service. We accomplish this mission with our SHE Thrives Peer Support Groups, Workshops, Mastermind Book Clubs, and Retreats. We also collaborate with many other Veteran Service Organizations to to partner with and refer our veterans to as needed.

Camp Shield's Mission is to nurture female veterans - emotionally, socially and physically; to ensure SHE THRIVES, After Military Service. Camp Shield's Vision is to reduce the risk of female veteran homelessness and suicide by providing a secure and comfortable environment for the female veterans and their children to heal and grow.

Camp Shield provides our SHE THRIVES series of programs for female veterans. This includes workshops, training, events and peer support groups focused on our three program pillars: Emotional Strength, Social Unity and Physical Perseverance. These workshops include art therapy, emotional and resilience training, mindfulness and holistic health workshops, self-defense, etc. Through vetted partnerships of collaborating veteran service organizations, we also provide referrals to an array of local and national tangible services and resources. In 2019, our second operational year, After Military Service served 119 male veterans and veteran family members through our resource referral services and Camp Shield's female veteran only program served 89 female veterans.
