Film Work Traces, Voice of the Second Generation Award-Winning Documentary Film screens at: The Museum of Tolerance in Los, Angeles for International Holocaust Remembrance Day University of South Florida in Tampa/St.Pete, sponsored by the Gulf Coast Jewish Federation; University of Floridas Oak Hammock in Gainesville, Florida; Bristol, England; Tel Aviv, Israel; Haifa, Israel; Cleveland, Ohio; And multiple other organizations across the US. -- In Traces, Voices of the Second Generation, Holocaust survivors children share their families true stories and explore the complexities of growing up in a Holocaust survivorship household and the Holocausts generational impact, including the responsibilities to share and educate about the lessons learned from this darkest episode. Traces highlights the unbreakable strength and remarkable resilience of the human spirit. Traces ensures these stories are remembered and understood by all. Translations of subtitles include Hebrew and Spanish. Funding for outreach and translations continues to ensure we can screen Traces around the world and make it available for educational use. -- Production begins on our next film project, Hope in Hiding that tells the story of a young family that goes into hiding in Rotterdam. To survive, the parents find a home for their infant son, with hope they will be reunited. To cope, the couple, hidden with the bravery of a young mother, turn to puppet making and perform for children, never revealing their identity behind the stage. Their lives are continuously under threat and danger never ceases. In spite the horrors and starvation in Nazi-occupied Holland, Hope in Hiding shine a light on this amazing story of survival, luck and perseverance. Funding continues for this remarkable, inspiring and educational production. -- Education We continued to develop educational materials for middle and high school to accompany the film, including one-day lesson plans to add to our multi-day lesson plans. We initiated education outreach to get Traces and its educational materials into classrooms. Translations of educational materials include Hebrew, Spanish and Braille. -- Public Programming Maximize Your Memory Series Our three-part series, Maximize Your Memory, invited participants to learn about how memory works, how we can maintain a strong memory and strengthen our memory skills. Aligning with our mission to capture memories, testimonies and stories of the Holocaust and its ongoing impact, memory is key. This series, led by Robin West, PhD, retired University of Florida professor and lauded memory expert and author, empowered attendees and was recorded for future reference and resource. -- LiterARTure, Art and Literature Series This popular four-part series explores how art and literature reflect common bonds shared by all of use. Led by art lecturer Cindy Edelman and SFIs Stacey Goldring, the program, held at Jacksonville University, exposes audiences to the universal themes of artists and authors that bind communities and cultures. Each year, Holocaust Remembrance is also recognized in Spring for Holocaust Remembrance Day/Yom HaShoah, with the focus on works of art and books that represent stories from that time and works of remembrance. Writing Workshop and Support for Second and Third Generation/Holocaust Survivor Descendant In the workshop, Second and Third Gen write about share their parents survivor testimony and document their own survivorship upbringing. This program, continuing for over a decade included both children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors. Reading these essays can release emotions that are best processed with a licensed therapist. SFI introduced this service in 2023. In addition to the online workshop, a one-day workshop experience was held in Cleveland, Ohio. That workshop now continues to meet monthly.
