Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The la times foundation is organized to support the philanthropic activities of newspaper subscribers in the communities served by the los angeles times, including but not limited to, making grants to public charities that provide year-round academic enrichment programs for students from low income families to improve their literacy skills and ability to read proficiently at a grade level. In addition, the organization will raise funds to support public charities that provide day and/or overnight camps with an educational component during the out-of-school summer months to help low income children curb summer learning loss. The organization also intends on supporting charitable organizations that address homelessness, hunger, and literacy issues. The organization is designed to be broad and flexible in its approach in order to best further its charitable purposes.
