| Description | Grants | Expenses |
|---|---|---|
| Patient Support: Our patient support program provides financial, emotional, and mental health support for young adults fighting cancer. We offer financial assistance grants, access to free counseling services with a licensed therapist, support from a young adult cancer guide with a background in oncology nursing, as well as care packages called "Boon Bags" with cancer fighting resources. This year we've increased the presence of our Boon bags and resources to hospitals and patient care facilities by partnering with local providers, navigators, and social workers. We continue to focus on building relationships with people who serve our demographic. We've also increased the number of financial assistance grants we award as well as the amount allocated for them in order to meet the increased financial need of so many, and are proud to say that we were able to fulfill 100% of local eligible grant requests this year. Our cancer guide has worked with patients to help them advocate for themselves and seek the best care plans for their situations. In a collaborative effort, we sent our Executive Director and a metastatic patient representative to CancerCon, hosted by Stupid Cancer the leading national nonprofit for Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer. Through that experience, we've joined a collaborative group with other nonprofits, met and partnered with various nonprofits who serve our demographic, and continued to learn more about how we can meet the needs of those we serve. We've also started conversations with our local hospital about the importance of programs geared towards our demographic. We believe community is healing and working to connect those we serve with other organizations who can provide them assistance is an important part of our mission and patient support program. | $5,800 | $10,833 |
| Courage Club: Courage Club is made up of persons who have faced a cancer diagnosis as a young adult (roughly 18-40 years of age). We have a private online group, but also plan free in-person events at least monthly as an opportunity for those we serve to connect and support one another. Courage Club has a subgroup for those battling stage 4 cancer, which we call our "Meta Meet Up" group which gathers at least quarterly. Over the last six months we've met for dinner, happy hour, frozen yogurt, and completed an afternoon of service together. We've also built succulent terrariums with pumpkins at a farm- all at no cost to those we serve. We hosted a large family event for our courage club members this year at our Holiday Party which included a dinner, cookie decorating station, visit from Santa, hot chocolate bar, and a build your own stuffed animal center. | $0 | $9,746 |
| Fitness Force: Fitness Force is designed to help cancer survivors achieve their wellness goals after a cancer diagnosis. Volunteers act as supporters to encourage and provide accountability to our survivors. This summer we challenged our participants to up their movement and increase their hydration with a "water and walking challenge" that culminated in a celebratory free Fly High Bungee workout. We continued our challenges into the fall with habit stacking healthy habits like daily movement, nutritious meal choices, and attainable goal setting with the support, encouragement, and accountability of supporters and peers. Fitness Force has served as a great way for new survivors to connect with our organization and other survivors. | $0 | $741 |
