“The governing body of the Organization delegates broad authority to act on its behalf to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee is comprised of the Chair, Chair Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, and Past Chair. All members of the Executive Committee are on the board.”

“Before it is filed, the form is sent electronically in PDF format to all Board Members or to the Executive Committee if between board meetings. They review the document in its entirety, and communicate back to the President & CEO that they have completed the review, and approve its filing along with any points of concern.”

“New Board Members are presented with the Conflict of Interest Statement during the Board Member orientation process, which must be signed upon election to the board. All Board Members must sign a new Conflict of Interest Statement yearly at the annual board meeting. In the event of possible conflict while voting, the Board Member shall disclose and abstain from the discussions and voting. The Employee Handbook includes a Conflict of Interest section which is reviewed upon employment and is signed by the employee as acceptance of the policy. The Leadership Team of the Organization also sign an annual Conflict of Interest Statement. Both policies are monitored by the Organization's Leadership Team on an ongoing basis.”

“The Board of Directors' Executive Committee independently decides the compensation of the President & CEO on a yearly basis. The last review was February 21, 2025. The Executive Committee also reviews compensation recommendations from the President & CEO for the remaining Leadership Team members using market comparison data, and makes final decisions for any changes. They provide written authorization for any changes, and their decisions are reflected in the Executive Committee meeting minutes.”

“Health & Nutrition: Recognizing that food is a social determinant of health, The Idaho Foodbank's Health & Nutrition team works in close collaboration with coalitions, healthcare organizations, and communities across the state to address food insecurity and improve overall community health. Over the past fiscal year, the team actively participated in 20 regional and local community health coalitions, attended or presented at 15 conferences and seminars, and hosted two regional partner conferences along with a partner open house. These activities helped deepen shared understanding of the critical link between hunger and health, engaging audiences that included Foodbank partner agencies, healthcare collaborators, university partners, social service providers, and community stakeholders. To increase access to essential non-food resources, the team distributed 187 quarterly resource boxes. These boxes contained 27 unique materials offering statewide information on housing, education, healthcare, economic well-being, home energy assistance, mental health services, supplemental nutrition programs, and care navigation resources. Strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers remained a priority. The team contributed to regional health improvement plans, hosted 8 health fairs at pantry sites, and collaborated with St. Luke's to improve food access in rural community schools in Southwest Idaho. Additionally, the team mentored 30 nursing students through service-based learning projects and supported a three-year community medicine project in partnership with a resident physician. Nutrition Education: The team continued to expand its nutrition education programming across the state this last fiscal year. A total of 19 Cooking Matters courses were delivered, engaging 521 participants. These included Cooking Matters series classes for Adults, Families, Kids, and Teens. These multi-week, evidence-based courses empower individuals and families with the knowledge and skills to shop for and prepare healthy meals on a limited budget. Recognizing that attending a full six-week class series can be difficult, especially for neighbors in more rural areas, the team began offering stand-alone, topic-specific Cooking Matters classes tailored to community needs. Seventeen of these one-time classes were offered, serving an additional 196 participants across Idaho. The team also conducted 11 Cooking Matters at the Store tours, reaching 64 participants. These one-day guided grocery store tours teach participants how to shop for healthy, affordable food while learning budgeting tips, nutrition label reading, and strategies to stretch food dollars. Beyond structured classes, the Nutrition Education team led numerous food demonstrations at partner pantries, schools, community events, and within The Idaho Foodbank's warehouses. These interactive sessions highlight how to prepare healthy meals using items available from pantry distributions. For example, when an unfamiliar variety of squash was donated by a local grower last summer, an IFB team member demonstrated how to prepare it, provided tastings, and shared simple recipe, empowering neighbors to confidently cook and enjoy a new, healthy vegetable at home. Access & Equity: To improve access and equity, the Health & Nutrition team used translation services to connect non-English speakers with food assistance and direct food deliveries. They also ran team bilingual social media campaigns for SNAP, WIC, and healthcare open enrollment, reaching nearly 160,000 English and Spanish speaking Idahoans with critical information. The Health & Nutrition team is guided by a commitment to understanding community needs through authentic relationship-building and collaboration, and to exploring innovative, sustainable solutions to improve health outcomes across Idaho.”
