Schoolhouse connection is a national non-profit organization working to overcome homelessness through education. We provide strategic advocacy and practical assistance in partnership with early childhood programs, schools, institutions of higher education, service providers, families, and youth. We believe education is the only permanent solution to homelessness. Our vision is that children and youth experiencing homelessness have full access to quality learning, birth through higher education, so they will never be homeless as adults, and the next generation will never be homeless.

“The policy covers all directors, officers, members of a committee or staff members. All such individuals read and sign the coi policy each year. The policy is reviewed at a board meeting each year. Directors, officers and staff are aware of what could be conflicts of interest and are encouraged to raise any concerns about themselves or another person immediately. Shc does not enter into transactions with entities in which an interested person holds an ownership interest, family connection or is employed.”

“Schoolhouse connection believes that income tax filing positions will be sustained upon examination and does not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on schoolhouse connection's financial condition, results of operations or cash flows. Accordingly, schoolhouse connection has not recorded any reserves or related accruals for interest and penalties for uncertain income tax positions at december 31, 2024. Schoolhouse connection is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Schoolhouse connection's policy is to classify income tax related interest and penalties in interest expense and other expenses. For tax purposes, schoolhouse connection's open audit years are 2021 - 2023.”

WE AIM TO CONSISTENTLY ELEVATE SCHOLARS' VOICES TO DRIVE PROGRAM INNOVATION AND ADVOCATE FOR SYSTEMIC CHANGE.PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: SHC'S YOUTH LEADERSHIP & SCHOLARSHIPS (YLS) PROGRAM PROVIDES A SCHOLARSHIP AWARD, COLLEGE COMPLETION RESOURCES TO MEET EMERGENCY NEEDS, ONE-ON-ONE HELP NAVIGATING COLLEGE AND LIFE, AND A STABLE PEER AND ADULT SUPPORT NETWORK. IN 2023, SHC HOSTED THREE IN-PERSON TRIPS FOR ITS SCHOLARS: A FIRST-YEAR AWARD CEREMONY TO CELEBRATE THE NEWEST COHORT OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS, A SECOND-YEAR SUMMIT IN WASHINGTON DC WHERE STUDENTS EDUCATED FEDERAL POLICYMAKERS ON BARRIERS TO EDUCATION CREATED BY HOMELESSNESS, AND A THIRD-YEAR RETREAT FOR SCHOLARS TRANSITIONING INTO THE WORKFORCE. SHC ALSO CREATED OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCHOLARS TO ELEVATE CRITICAL ISSUES, SHARE THEIR STORIES TO DRIVE CHANGE, AND COLLABORATE WITH POLICYMAKERS TO IMPROVE EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND YOUNG ADULTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS.
