Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 was prepared by the outside accountants and reviewed by the executive director. A copy of the 990 provided to the board prior to filing with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The policy covers all directors, officers, members of a committee or staff members. All such individuals read and sign the coi policy each year. The policy is reviewed at a board meeting each year. Directors, officers and staff are aware of what could be conflicts of interest and are encouraged to raise any concerns about themselves or another person immediately. Shc does not enter into transactions with entities in which an interested person holds an ownership interest, family connection or is employed.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

The executive director's compensation is decided by the board of directors. The board utilized form 990s from comparable organizations, and a salary report for nonprofit organizations in the greater washington, dc area. The review was documented in the meeting minutes. The most recent review took place in december 2023 at which time the executive director's salary was changed.

Schoolhouse connection is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.
