Providing services to our community
RoshniS mission statement: Every citizen deserves access to Art and Artistic activities. Every child has the potential to become an Artist, given the right support and access. Every adult can reach their higher potential given the right environment. ROSHNI set out to address the lack of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Coloradan performing Art Scene. Our programs use Art to bring together people from diverse cultures, abilities, and professions. We use Art to share stories with under-represented groups but more importantly help them tell their own stories by identifying, recruiting, and mentoring them. Community-building: Programs bridge divides by encouraging cross-cultural friendships, finding common ground while celebrating differences, and giving people an opportunity to learn and share, while finding the courage to express themselves personally.

“The ROSHNI Board of Directors is made up of six members. Each member represents one of our targeted cultural groups namely, New Americans (Refugee/immigrants), African American, Hispanic, Seniors, and People with physical and mental disabilities. 90% of them also practice some form of Art. The board term is two years. Our current board started on 1 Jan 2022 and will end in Dec 2023. At the end of their term, the board member can choose to stay on for another term. The ROSHNI Board of Directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization. To that end it: - Determines how the organization will carry out its mission through and plan goals - Formulate the long-term strategic goals - Adopts an annual budget and provides fiscal oversight - Evaluates the performance of the Executive and the Artistic director - Evaluates the overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission - Establishes policies for the effective management of the organization Responsibilities: - Understand and promote the organizations mission - Be familiar with the organizations programs, policies, and operations - Attend quarterly board meetings - Participate in fundraising activities and special events committees - Actively serve on at least one committee - Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings - Make an annual contribution to the organization commensurate with their ability - Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies”
“We also offer the following programs: Chance on Dance is our weekly dance program for seniors and people with disabilities. Each class is attended by an average of 14 people. Original Theatre Productions In collaboration with the Vintage Theatre, we produced the world premiere of 'Aly and the Genie; from 1 - 17 July 2022 and the Holiday show of 'Nutcracker - the New American Way' from 14 - 17 December 2022. Art/Cultural events We organize Artistic events every quarter. We also participate in 8 - 12 cultural events and festivals, like World Refugee day, Globalfest, etc to about 1000 audiences annually.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | New American Stories This is our primary after-school youth program that started in 2018. This program gives youth the opportunity to create their own original short play and is offered through 24-week sessions during the school year. The final production is held in May to showcase the work of all students. The sessions allow for long-term engagement and a deeper impact rather than a one-off experience. The benefit to youth is learning new skills, being creative, building relationships with staff and peers, promote over-all well-being while spending out-of-school time in a safe and productive way. The program serves 60 youths per year. |

The NAAF started virtually, as a pilot edition in 2020 during the pandemic. Since then, weve had tremendous success engaging the community and bringing together a broad range of cultural groups. It is a brilliant testimony that shows when given the right support, BIPOC communities will find their voices and tell their stories through new and diverse artworks. |

Each member represents one of our targeted cultural groups namely, New Americans (Refugee/immigrants), African American, Hispanic, Seniors, and People with physical and mental disabilities. 90% of them also practice some form of Art. The board term is two years. Our current board started on 1 Jan 2022 and will end in Dec 2023. At the end of their term, the board member can choose to stay on for another term. The ROSHNI Board of Directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization. To that end it: - Determines how the organization will carry out its mission through and plan goals - Formulate the long-term strategic goals - Adopts an annual budget and provides fiscal oversight - Evaluates the performance of the Executive and the Artistic director - Evaluates the overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission - Establishes policies for the effective management of the organization Responsibilities: - Understand and promote the organizations mission - Be familiar with the organizations programs, policies, and operations - Attend quarterly board meetings - Participate in fundraising activities and special events committees - Actively serve on at least one committee - Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings - Make an annual contribution to the organization commensurate with their ability - Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies |
