Mission and Program Overview
Mission
HackTheU aims to provide matriculated students of 18 years of age and older opportunities through programming competitions, education of new technologies, and the chance to participate in large scale hackathons for the use of developing new technology while interacting with peers from across the nation. The primary objectives are to allow students to experiment with new ideas in computer science and to also gain exposure so that they can gain opportunities to further their careers.

| HackTheU hosted their first annual hackathon on November 11th, 2016. At this event, it united collegiate students from across the region and from over 5 different universities. The total attendance was approximately 170 students who have gone on to pursue careers throughout the technological industry and many have listed HackTheU on their CVs. At the event itself, applications created of note were an augmented reality application that aided the user in speaking with autistic children while another application allowed the user to step into a virtual reality zone in which they could listen to music as they navigated the stars. The event was a huge success and has received recognition from the University of Utah to host their second annual event to take place on October 27th-28th, 2017. | $0 | $15,268 |

That misunderstanding was that the filing period was within the five months after the fiscal year had ended and this was HackTheU's first year after creation allowing the organization to file by October 15th, 2017. If this was done in error, HackTheU expresses its sincere apology and assures the IRS that the filing will be conducted in a punctual manner in the future. |
