Mission

Last Whispers, Inc. has been formed to bring awareness to the extinction of linguistic diversity around the world and help provide support to language archives, museums and universities in their effort to maintain the history of languages. Last Whispers, Inc. is hoping to achieve their purpose by utilizing audio and visual compilations by numerous award winning composers. These compilations will be presented in museums and language archives and universities. The hope is that the compilations will help educate and make the public aware of the enormity of disappearing languages. Last Whispers, Inc. wants the world to hear and feel the loss of knowledge and origins of 85-90% of languages once spoken in everyday life.

During 2016 Last Whispers worked on the preparation of a simultaneous film projection and a choral pre-recorded composition with binaural sound, resulting in a 50-minute long emotional experience and immersive oratorio. This video has been prepared to be shown as an educational tool regarding the extinct and endangered languages around the world.The video consists of 3D animation, video drone footage and stills (all in black-and-white) poetically linking image and sound.The choral composition is a chorus of extinct and endangered languages, both spoken and sung, composed from the historical recordings (speech, recitatives, incantations, songs and ritual chants) punctuated by the sound of interpreted gravitational waves of the collapsing stars and supernovae recorded by LIGO Last Whispers is, in essence, a film with binaural sound and has two editions:Edition 1: Museum/Concert Hall/ Cathedral Installation and ConcertLast Whispers plays on a loop at the top of the hour or Last Whispers plays as a choral concert and film event at a given time. Using a video screen projection of animation, stills and drone footage in black-and-white and audio projection (8.1 binaural) either via an 8.1 PA sound system or via earphones the watcher becomes immersed in the video and audio performance.
