Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The mission of the Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH) project is to provide leadership, resources and education to manage and eliminate the destructive consequences of homelessness in the Pacific Palisades so that the community is protected and remains safe and our homeless people receive compassionate, effective services with access to permanent housing. To accomplish its mission, the PPTFH works very closely with local service and law enforcement agencies. The PPTFH also manages the local, annual point-in-time homeless count sponsored by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

The accomplishments of the Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH) fall into three general areas: 1 Services, 2 Enforcement and 3 Education. SERVICES: By September, 2017, the PPTFH outreach partners provided extended services to 73 homeless person in the Palisades. 53 (73%) of those persons are now in service-supported shelters with 36 in permanent housing. The PPTFH has raised significant funds to support these service efforts.$0$723
ENFORCEMENT: The PPTFH Enforcement Team has partnered with the local police and fire departments to ensure that local laws are enforced, particularly those to related to neighborhood safety. In 2015 a serious fire was started in a homeless encampment. The Enforcement Team developed and implemented a signage program to ensure that high fire prone areas were not populated with people using open fires. There have been no fires since that time.$0$0
EDUCATION: THE PPTFH continues to sponsor bimonthly, interactive community meetings on various topics related to homelessness. Topics have included: veterans, PTSD and what we can do to help, responses to panhandling, service resistant homeless in the Palisades and how to talk to our children about homelessness. The entire Palisades community, including its homeless residents have benefited from the work of the PPTFH and its partners.$0$0
