The Ascension Heights Development aka "Watertank Hill" is 19 single family residences built on a very steep hill on 13.32 acres at the northeast corner of Bel Aire Road and Ascension Drive in San Mateo. On October 14, 2015 the San Mateo County Planning Commission approved the project by a vote of 3-2. The Baywood Park Homeowners Association appealed that ruling to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, but on February 9, 2016 the Supervisors denied our appeal and voted in favor of the development. With that vote in early 2016, the County pushed through a 19-home plan for Water Tank Hill that ignored the input of over 450 residents.RDWTH filed a CEQA lawsuit against San Mateo County within weeks of the decision, asserting that the analysis was inadequate and guidelines incorrectly applied when approving the 19-home development on Water Tank Hill.
