| The Habersham Merchants Association's largest activity is the Habersham Harvest Festival. The event was started eight years ago with the purpose of creating a family-friendly event that was unique from all of the other festivals in the Beaufort area. The Merchants Association wanted to bring back alive the traditional "county fair" atmosphere and highlight the local food produced here along with recognizing local craftsmen. The Harvest Festival has quickly become one of Beaufort's favorite festivals for local residents. The Merchants Association has succeeded in growing the festival from 1,200 attendees to over 7,000 in its eight years of existence. Once the festival grew too big for board members to coordinate, the Board hired a local event planner to coordinate the event each year alongside an event committee from the Association Board. The Board is still responsible for securing event sponsorships to help fund 50% of the event's expenses. The other 50% comes from the event's ticket sales. By creating this fun, family-friendly event each year, the Merchants Association has made the Habersham Marketplace a memorable place in local residents' minds and has exposed tens of thousands of people to the magical environment of the Marketplace area. | $0 | $40,653 |
| Bottles and Barrels is a ticketed event that is meant to attract a more adult, higher end crowd than the Harvest Festival, With the 2 events, the Association is able to achieve better visibility among a more diverse demographic than what just one event could accomplish. Bottles and Barrels highlights interesting beers, wines and spirits, many made locally, and also features a culinary component that spotlights local chefs. The culinary part of the event takes place in private homes located in the Habersham neighborhood. This fosters the relationship between the businesses in the Marketplace and the residents who live in the Habersham Neighborhood. Like the Harvest Festival, this event's planning and coordination is contracted out to a local event planner. The Association Board is responsible for raising 50% of the event's targeted income through sponsorships. The other 50% comes from ticket sales. Proceeds from either of these two events helps fund capital improvement projects in the Habersham Marketplace. | $0 | $27,030 |
| Awareness campaign. Each year, the Board creates a marketing campaign to serve as a consistent reminder to residents in the Beaufort area that the Marketplace is a great place to come to events, hang out, or shop and dine at one of the businesses here. The awareness campaign typically involves print advertising in local publications and rack cards, radio ads that highlight the events, and online marketing tools such as social media. Last year's awareness campaign focused on something for Beaufort residents to do every night of the week in the Marketplace. The goal was to remind residents that the Marketplace is a great candidate to be their favorite hang out spot. So many places in Beaufort are centered around tourism since that is the main industry here, but the Merchants Association wants Beaufort residents to know that they are our main priority to serve. | $0 | $0 |
| To make the Marketplace a destination for locals, the Merchants Association pays close attention to capital improvements that help to create a magical atmosphere when people are here. Each year, the Board allocates money in the budget for certain capital improvements. In the past, some accomplishments include covering the entire Marketplace with overhead string lights, building an inventory of Christmas decorations, building a stage for performances, and more. Some items that the Association would like to see next are better signage offsite, new tents for events, and better wayfinding within the Marketplace. These capital improvements are key to creating a destination where people enjoy coming and feel comfortable while here. | $0 | $0 |
