“ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES: This program presents free workshops and trainings to educate the public about environmental issues, promote the protection of the environment and create community level environmental education projects.”

“ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES Accomplishments: We provided 28 weeks of community trainings for over 150 attendees. We trained four Environmental Justice Interns and provided 14 educational workshops (9 in public schools, 2 at the public library, and 3 in churches). We added 2 new restoration projects in Florham Park and Montclair, continued supporting 2 more restoration projects, and continued working with our stream bank restoration in Bloomfield, NJ. Environmental Initiatives Program increased their projects in 2022 from 7 to 9.”

“THE URBAN GROWERS PROGRAM: The program sees the growth of community vegetable gardens as an effective strategy to make healthy organic produce accessible to low income families, ensuring that all the members of our community have access to fresh local foods. We educate, coach, and monitor the work of volunteers working with community gardens.”

“THE URBAN GROWERS PROGRAM Accomplishments: We expanded the program with three new community gardens, one in Passaic and two in Montclair. We have now six community gardens, that all together produced more than 8,000 pounds of fresh organic produce that was donated to local food programs.”

“COMMUNITY OOUTREACH: The Community Outreach Program is responsible for reaching out to environmental and community groups as well as building partnerships with other organizations, providing support for their work, and collaborating with their programs and common agenda.”

“COMMUNITY OOUTREACH Accomplishments: We celebrated the 7th Acting Locally for a More Sustainable World Conference, Earth Day Celebration, the Montclair Eco-Fair, the Monarch Migration Celebration, and the End of the Harvest 2022 Festival. All these events were very successful and attracted big crowds.”

“THE COMMUNITY FOOD NETWORK: The Community Food Network is based on a national grassroots movement to fight immediate local food need. The program helps to feed neighbors, nourishing neighborhoods and building communities by providing food 24/7 though a network of Free Little Pantries.”

“THE COMMUNITY FOOD NETWORK Accomplishments: The Community Food Network started in October 2020 with one pantry location in Montclair, NJ and has expanded to 19 locations in five towns in northern New Jersey. In 2022, the program distributed more than 330,000 pounds of dry and canned food. We motivated people in the communities that we serve to donate food. The program is run by over 250 volunteers.”
