Mission

Our purpose is to provide aid to the homeless and needy in southeast Iowa via housing and other necessary assistance

Our mission is to end homelessness, poverty, and related issues for all persons in southeast Iowa.

Along with housing, we helped our clients with getting copies of their ID's,medical & food assistance and travel expenses, such as bus fare to and from jobs or applications for work.

IRS990ScheduleL/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The founder and board president, Craig Fenton, originally purchased the building at 515 S Main Street to be used as a homeless shelter by Transitions DMC Inc, as Transitions did not have the ability to take on a bank loan or mortgage. He later sold the building at his cost to Transitions as a non-interest-bearing loan. Also, over the years, he has loaned money to Transitions multiple times for cash flow needs. Part of those loans have been repaid. All funds loaned by him bear no interest charges. Craig also owned several rental properties and sometimes allowed Transitions homeless clients to live there at a nominal rent, if any. Transitions paid utilities on some of these properties in lieu of rent, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
