“In 2020, we launched our first junior board with 11 young adult members directly impacted by osteosarcoma. We also offered our first 6-week healing heart grief courses free of charge to bereaved osteosarcoma parents. Additionally, in april 2020, mib agents launched a webinar/podcast series called osteobites with bite size information from leading osteosarcoma professionals discussing new research and therapeutic options. 27 episodes were published in our inaugural season of osteobites.”

Programs mib agents patient and family support programs have grown to 6 distinct programs offering critical support to our community including: ambassador agents- a peer support program including training for our peer support agents writer agents- a program of monthly letters of hope, friendship and encouragement from our volunteers to those in treatment prayer agents- a network of volunteers that dedicate their prayers to patients, angels and their families gamer agents- a group of kids, teens and young adults that bond through playing video games with osteosarcoma as a common connection missions- a program that designs an experience or item of comfort for a patient when all curative treatment options are exhausted healing hearts- a bereavement program for parents that have lost their child to osteosarcoma research the year began with the fourth factor conference in scottsdale, arizona from february 28-29. The 100,000 outsmarting osteosarcoma research grant was awarded to dr. Andy livingston of md anderson. Hq at factor (a 2-day event that brings together young adults and kids with osteosarcoma and their siblings) grew to include a doctors vs. Warriors challenge which was widely successful. Education the 2020 factor conference included 120 researchers and doctors alongside 60 patients and families to hear 31 presentations by top osteosarcoma researchers and doctors. In july 2020 the chinese translation of our book, osteosarcoma from our families to yours, was completed in partnership with shiyu sunflower children's foundation in china. In december 2020, the spanish translation of our book was completed. The english, chinese, and spanish editions are all available for free download on our website. The testing & research directory continues to be refined with new information that helps our community gain genetic information about their tumors to inform their treatment plan and contribute samples to expand osteosarcoma research. Our newly developed webinar/podcast series called osteobites rounded out the education offerings to our community of researchers, patients, doctors and families in 2020.”
