Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization adheres to the authoritative guidance relating to accounting for uncertainty in income taxes included in asc topic income taxes. These provisions provide consistent guidance for the accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in an entity's consolidated financial statements and prescribe a threshold of "more likely than not" for recognition and derecognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. The organization performed an evaluation of uncertain tax positions for the years ended december 31, 2019 and 2018, and determined that there were no matters that would require recognition in the consolidated financial statements or that may have an effect on its tax-exempt status. As of december 31, 2019, the statute of limitations for tax years 2016 through 2018 remains open with the u.s. Federal jurisdiction and the various states and local jurisdictions in which the organization files returns. It is the organization's policy to recognize interest and/or penalties related to uncertain tax positions, if any, in unrelated business income tax expense. The organization did not have any unrelated business income and accordingly, no provision for income taxes is necessary at december 31, 2019.

THE DPAF IS IN ITS SIXTH YEAR OF EXISTENCE AND IS WORKING TOWARDS CREATING A LARGER DONOR BASE. THE ORGANIZATION HAS RECEIVED SUPPORT FROM A VARIETY OF ENTITIES BOTH CORPORATE AND CHARITABLE AND THE PUBLIC SUPPORT PERCENTAGE HAS INCREASED FROM 0% TO 22% IN THE FIRST 5 YEARS. DURING 2019 DPAF MOVED AWAY FROM BEING RUN BY A MANAGEMENT COMPANY AND HIRED A DIRECTOR WITH NON-PROFIT FUNDRAISING EXPERIENCE. THE ORGANIZATION HAS IDENTIFIED A TARGET FOR DONATION REQUESTS THAT CAN BE FULLY COUNTED AS PUBLIC SUPPORT AND WILL INTENTIONALLY SEEK OUT DONATIONS AT THAT LEVEL FROM A WIDER BASE OF POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTORS. DPAF IS IN THE PROCESS OF RESTRUCTURING THE GOVERNING BODY TO MAKE IT MORE INDEPENDENT FROM ITS RELATED PARTY, THE SOCIETY OF DERMATOLOGY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS, INC., AS NEW BOARD MEMBERS ARE SELECTED THEY WILL PARTIALLY BE SELECTED FOR THEIR ABILITY TO ASSIST IN INCREASING CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
