Mission

The South Shore District Management Association, Inc.'s mission is to lessen the burden of the government by, but not limited to, providing sanitation and maintenances services throughout the District, improving public safety and the environment in the District by administering a security program, providing and implementing economic development, and advocating on behalf of the stakeholders of the District. Furthermore, there were alliances formed with local non-profit organizations to create a business incubator which is focused on offering collaborative workspace to those on Staten Island unable to afford traditional space.

The association is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and from state and local income taxes under comparable laws. Generally accepted accounting principles prescribe how an entity should measure, recognize, present, and disclose in its financial statements, tax positions that an association has taken or expects to take on its tax returns. The association regularly reviews and evaluates its tax positions with regard to issues affecting its not-for-profit status. The association believes that in the event of an examination by taxing authorities, its position would prevail based on technical merits.
