“Room to move grant - innovative furniture; movement stimulates the mind. Todays'classroom is an active, dynamic place where students are often given "room to move" - empowering them with choices of where to sit, how to sit and even when to sit. All this to keep them more engaged, comfortable and productive. These chairs and tables support the flexible learning environment with furniture that allows easy transition from lecture to hands-on practice, from collaborative projects to independent time for reading, reasearch or introspection. And bodies are built for motion, for wiggling and twisting, bouncing and sometimes even rocking. That's why this healthy movement collection offers ergonomic seating that flexes and rocks, chairs that roll and swivel and tables and desks that adjust from sitting to stand-alone height and can work alone or nest together - all designed to move with ease and help students find the position and space where they work best. These products work together to help set the stage for an active, flexible media center.”
“Creating composers grant - ipads and music software/apps; "music expresses that which cannot be put into words." through this grant and project, students will explore music composition, first through recognizing characteristice in pieces composed by others, then through arranging and organizing musical thoughts into short pieces, culminating in creating musical work that is all their own. They will build upon their own real life experiences and musical listening preferences, discovering that writing your own song isn't as hard as you think, especially with the right tools adolescents so often struggle with ways to best communicate their feelings and emotions, music provides an outlet for that expression. They will be able to showcase their songs, their musical reflection of themselves, in conjunction with a maker space technology night, to be held in the third marking period.”
“Lemmos (we read) grant - spanish reading program; by providing students the opportunity to read in spanish, it ultimately increases their vocabulary and comprehension of spanish grammer as well as sentence structure. The content of my curriculum contains both vocabulary and grammar concepts in spanish as well as short passages in spanish for students to practice their reading comprehension skills. The addition of being able to read in spanish will supplement the curriculum as well as reinforce the concepts the students are learning because it will offer real life examples. As a spanish teacher, i aim to constantly motivate students and grab their interest by demonstrating my own enthusiasm for the subject. I achieve this by discussing relevant and current topics, as well as introducing authentic materials and culture. Being able to provide students with a library of options will increase my chances of motivating them to continue learning the spanish language.”
