Live Performances: Red Bean Opera views live performance of Cantonese Opera as a whorthwhile goal in itself but also regards the producing of operatic events as a natural extension of its programs of education, training and rehearsal because of the opportunities provided the students in its youth programs to acquire actual stage experience. Since its founding, Red Bean Opera has produced & Participated inmore than 40 live operatic events in venues throughout the great San Francisco BayArea

Activity 3

Youth Training Programs: Since the 1997 formation of the first "Little Red Bean" group, the troupe's academic program, now operating under the ensembles of the "Red Bean Youth Troupe" and "Red Bean Youth Dancers", have proven to be one of the opera company's most successful endeavors. More than 50 youths from ages 9 through 20 have passed through the classes offered in the fundamentals of operatic technique,including acting, stage movement and martial arts; beginning and advanced dance technique; singing and recitative technique, and costuming and cosmetics for the operatic stage. All Youth Troupe and Youth Dancers students have appeared in live performances; some have matured into leading roles. One has joined the Red Bean Opera faculty as a teaching assisstant.
