“Georgetown village is a nonprofit membership organization providing services, programs and activities in the georgetown, burleith, and nearby neighborhoods so people 55 and older can remain in their homes and stay connected, involved, and engaged in their neighborhoods. “Georgetown village provides ongoing programs such as support groups, book discussion groups, monthly docent led tours and trips, etc. Members avoid social isolation and depression by enjoying activities offered by the village including theater, museum tours, concerts, lectures, movies and many members socialize at weekly coffee gatherings, happy hours and group dinners. Services offered to members now include indoor and outdoor home assistance, performed by trained, vetted volunteers, including organizing and i.t. Assistance by volunteer handymen or women. Georgetown village also provides transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, hair appointments, funerals, georgetown village activities and other destinations upon a member's request. Georgetown village now offers additional healthcare services to members. Specially trained volunteers will accompany members to the doctors' offices to take notes at medical appointments or serve as friendly companions when members are hospitalized or in the emergency room. Georgetown village offers "brain games" on a regular basis to help our members strengthen their memories and keep their brains sharp and provides free notary services in members' homes or the georgetown village office.
