“Client Note 1 - SILICON VALLEY VISUAL ARTS, INC. 77-0498110STATEMENT Part III, Line 28Statement IVProgram service accomplishments for 2017 -2018Silicon Valley Open StudiosDuring the first three weekends in May 2018, we produced the 32nd annual Silicon Valley Open Studios event. During this free event for the public, more than 390 artists showed and demonstrated their work at more than 160 locations throughout Silicon Valley. Each artist welcomes the public to visit their art studio or home to see demonstrations of their art techniques and methods and to view and discuss the artists latest works. This allows the public to learn about art directly from the artists in a non-intimidating and relaxed environment and to become better educated about art. This event is the primary vehicle for communicating and attracting the attention of local artists and encouraging their volunteer efforts for our other community service programs. Specific activities included program management using volunteer artists, marketing, advertising, public relations, collateral production (including 40,000 copies of the artist directory) which was distributed free throughout Silicon Valley. We estimate that approximately 35,000 people received this free artist directory.Because our event is non-juried, it is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists, who have not shown their work to the public, to participate in a public art event for the first time in their career. In addition, we presented free seminars (called SVOS University) to participating artists to train them on how to prepare their studios, how to promote themselves, how to price their artwork, and how to interact with art appreciators who visit their studios.Senior ProgramWe also provide an opportunity for senior citizens to participate at a reduced fee. This encourages senior citizens to continue (or begin) their art career, as well as to provide an activity and a social event to help encourage their continued participation with the arts.Open Studios for SchoolsWe continued the Open Studios for Schools that we began in 2007. In this program, we invite local colleges to participate in our main event (Silicon Valley Open Studios) for the purpose of showing and demonstrating art produced by student artists. Each participating college is awarded free partic-ipation in the event for the purpose of showing student art. During this year we were pleased to again award a free admission to this program to Mission College and Evergreen College. Future plans will expand this program to include more coaching and review of student work by profession-al artists who participate in our other programs. We will also use this program to provide student mentoring by volunteer artists.Invitational ExhibitsWe continued developing and presenting our SVOS (Silicon Valley Open Studios) Invitational ex-hibits that we began in 2007. In this program, we invite artists who have demonstrated outstanding ability in an ongoing body of work to participate in art shows that we arrange in public places. We hand an ongoing relationship with the San Jose Bridge Center to install an exhibition in their facility three times each year.We collaborated with the Pacific Art League of Palo Alto to produce and install a free, public art exhibition in downtown, Palo Alto during the month of April.SVOS UniversityWe conduct training seminars for artists and interested public about various business aspects of conducting an art business such as marketing and effective use of social media platforms. We have recently added a session about identifying and protecting yourself against various forms of on-line scams and phishing attacks. We also include some information about copyright protection of art-work.SV Talk ArtWe sponsor a weekly program on the public service channels where a selected artist is interviewed and provides on-camera demonstrations of their artwork and techniques. We create a new episode each month and the programs are aired w”
