Activity 2

Open space and wildlife preservation: (issues regarding endangered species, habitats, watersheds, agricultural and open space lands): open-space preservation and education network (open) actively participated in goleta, goleta valley, santa ynez, los alamos, buellton, and gaviota community planning processes as well as land use development code modifications. Open played key role in initiating gaviota planning process and serves on gavpac. Convenes and chairs gaviota community organizations roundtable. Plays significant role in monitoring, advocating and facilitating for steelhead trout habitat restoration. Attorney for naples preservation. Protected canada larga, east area 1, bailey ave. Ag sites.

Activity 3

Human and environmental health (air and onshore water pollution, pesticide and toxic reduction, food systems): published the "buy fresh, buy local" food guide for our service area. Acts as the environmental representative to the regional water quality control board agricultural waiver program to improve water quality by reducing polluted runoff from agricultural areas into waterways. Founded and is active member of the ag futures alliance where farmers, ranchers, farm labor representatives, environmentalists and other stakeholders work together to propose cooperative measures on issues of mutual concern. Continues to monitor clean-up and restoration of halaco toxic site which edc sued, leading to the closing of the facility now a superfund site. Ongoing work to assure total mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions on significant new local projects.
