“1) ADOPT-A-SPOT: KSLB/City program administered by KSLB. Organizations/individuals adopt a designated area in a Sugar Land park for the purpose of litter abatement. Participants must clean up their spot at least four times per year. The program focuses on areas not covered under the States Adopt-A-Highway Program. (169 Volunteers & 219 Volunteer Hours,134 Cleanups with 2,040 lbs of Trash Removal) 2) VIRTUAL SUGAR LAND EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: KSLB hosted and distributed a free virtual Earth Day Celebration Showcase that consisted of 57 evironmental educational videos. (45 Volunteers & 98 Volunteer Hours) 3) VIRTUAL GOING GREEN TOGETHER SCHOOL PROGRAM: KSLB developed and donated an environmental educational program that teachers could quickly and easily implement with in person and distance learners. Program consisted of three professional shows, twelve presentations, activities and resources. Topics include recycling,reuse, waste reduction, clean water, water conservation, litter prevention, clean air, sustainability & more. (18 Public & Private Elementary Schools, 11,992 Teachers, 796 Teachers,9 Volunteers, 81 Volunteer Hours) 4) TREES ACROSS SUGAR LAND: KSLB events held in partnership with the City to reforest the tree canopy in Sugar Land. First event planted thirty 30-gallon native hardwoods on the connector road between Sugar Land Memorial Park and Brazos River Park. Second Event-KSLB applied for and received grant for trees and recruited volunteers to plant and mulch 140 five-gallon native hardwoods in Brazos River Park. (2 Events, 77 Volunteers & 230 Volunteer Hours, In Kind Grant $3,650, Donations $16,067)5) POLLINATOR MEADOW PARTIES: KSLB events held in partnership with the City to establish native pollinator meadows in Brazos River Park to increase pollinator habitat, beautify and educate the public. (8 Events, 110 Volunteers & 246 Volunteer Hours, 82 lbs seeds planted, Monetary Grant $10,15 6) GIVING SPIRITS CONCERT SERIES: Educational Outreach (2 Volunteers & 4 Volunteer Hours, Donations $500)7) SPEAKERS BUREAU: KSLB provides recycling, reuse, solid waste reductions, litter prevention, water conservation, clean water and sustainability presentation for youth and adults. (6 Events, 12 Volunteers & 37 Volunteer Hours, 424 Attendees)8) YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD: Educational Outreach, KSLB developed this board to engage and mentor students with a passion for making a difference in our community and environment.
