“Due to the pandemic, most events were canceled. However, kslb was able to.... 1) adopt-a-spot kslb/city program administered by kslb. Organizations/individuals adopt a designated area within the city of sugar land for the purpose of litter abatement. Participants must clean-up their spot at least four times per year. The program focuses on areas not covered udner the state's adopt-a- highway program. Twelve spots adoped, representing 581 acres of parks. - 172 volunteers - 320 volunteer hours - 68 cleanups - 1,021 pounds of trash picked up 2) vitual environmental extravaganza shows partnered with the city of sugar land to provide virtual environmental educational shows on recycling/waste reduction/resue, conservation and litter prevention. - 4 free public events - 414 attendees - 6 volunteers - 13 volunteer hours 3) school environmental extravaganza shows partnered with the city of sugar land to provide live environmental educational shows on recycling/waste reduction/reuse, conservation and litter prevention shows to schools. - 10 schools - 10 shows - 3,278 attendees: 3,083 youth; 154 teachers; 40 other adults - 5 volunteers - 15 volunteer hours 4) speaker's bureau kslb provides recycling, solid waste reduction, litter prevention, water conservation, clean water, and sustainability presentations for youth and adults - 10 events: 11 volunteers; 45 volunteer hours; 372 attendees 5) youth advisory board educational outreach: kslb developed this board to engage and mentor high achieving students with a passion for making a difference in our community and the environment. - 8 volunteers - 240 volunteer hours 6) video eco games created and wrote code for 5 video games for grades kindergarten - 6th grade. Games: duck, duck, tree; recycling world; itsy's waterworks; litter dash; lasers & litter - 1 volunteer - 129 volunteer hours 7) eco virtual video and presentation series created powerpoint presentations and filmed educational videos - 16 created - 6 volunteers - 127 volunteer hours”
