IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM: VOLUNTEER HOURS AT THE FAMILY SERVICE CENTER INCREASED FROM 128 HOURS PER MONTH TO 144 HOURS PER MONTH. THIS ALLOWED THE CENTER TO ASSEST 429 CLIENTS WITH MORE THAN 160 IDENTIFIED NEEDS AND TO SUPPORT THE MEDICAL/DENTAL PROFESSIONALS STAFFING THE MONTHLY MEDICAL CLINIC AND THE QUARTERLY DENTAL CLINIC VAN. WE HAD 47 VISITS TO OUR DENTAL CLINICS AND 120 VISITS AT OUR MEDICAL CLINICS, WHICH ALSO OFFER PHYSICAL THERAPY. REFERRALS WERE ALSO MADE FOR HEALTHCARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE CLINICS. VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED ONE-ON-ONE ENGLISH COACHING AS WELL AS CIVICS TUTORING FOR THOSE PREPARING FOR THE CITIZENSHIP TEST. WE HOSTED SEVERAL CLOTHING GIVEAWAYS AND BY THE END OF THE YEAR IT HAD BECOME A MONTHLY EVENT, ASSISTED GREATLY BY HAVING MORE SPANISH-SPEAKING VOLUNTEERS. THE CENTER ALSO REFERRED CLIENTS TO NUMEROUS OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES, INCLUDING CIVIL LEGAL AID, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVOCACY, ENGLISH CLASSES, AND HOUSING ASSISTANCE. CLIENTS WITH LIMITE D ENGLISH SKILLS AND MINIMAL COMPUTER LITERACY WERE ASSISTED WITH UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGING THEIR VARIOUS BILLS, APPLYING FOR PASSPORTS AND DRIVERS LICENSES, AND RENEWING THEIR CHILDRENS HEALTH INSURANCE. IN 2019, THE CENTER HOPES TO CONTINUES TO INVOLVE MORE CLIENTS AS VOLUNTEERS, TO HAVE ADDITIONAL ITEMS SUCH AS CAR SEATS TO PROVIDE TO THOSE IN NEEED, AND TO HAVE AN ADDITIONAL DAY OPEN FOR DROP-INS. WITH 82% OF ITS CLIENTS BELOW THE FEDERAL POVERTY LINE, THE FAMILY SERVICES CENTER IS AN IMPORTANT RESOURCE TO INCREASE ACCESS TO SERVICES AND NECESSITIES FOR IMMIGRANTS IN THE COMMUNITY.
