PROVIDE HEALTHCARE EDUCATION THROUGH PUBLIC SEMINARS AND SPEAKERS:PATH for Women - Promoting Access to Health for Pacific Islanders & Southeast Asian Women: Conducted a survey of KAB of 50 members of Chamorrow community. Disseminated breast and cervical educational materials to 500 at risk individuals.Trained 8 Chamorrow community members as lay health advisors. Conducted 32 workshops, with an average of 8 participants each for a total of 256 educated. Refer 32 Chamorrow women to local breast and cervical cancer screening services.Tobacco and Chronic Disease Prevention: APCA staff members identified and trained nine 9 lay community members to conduct a chronic disease prevention workshop. The workshop curriculum was developed by APCA staff members and translated into several Asian languages. A total of 31 lay outreach workshops were held during the contract year. During the contract year, APCA screened a total of 167 individuals for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Of these individuals, 35 were provided referral assistance, either in the form of a medical home referral, ASHLine referral and/or referral to a CDSMP workshop. Similarly, through hosting tables at community events, APCA staff members referred 12 individuals to our CDSMP workshops.Susan Komen For the Cure: The Asian Women's Health Initiative has recruited a total of 40 lay health advisors, representing the Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Thai, Pacific Islander, Burmese, Asian Indian, Iraqi and Nepali communities. These lay health advisors have educated 441 API women regarding breast cancer prevention via 83 workshops; 112 individuals were reached via one-on-ones and 144 mammograms have been scheduled for low-income women. APCA held a community screening of the digital stories in the Pacific Islander community at the end of December at which we had 23 people attend. We held an expert led workshop on March 26th, 2011 at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Our "Girl Talk: A Women's Health Summit on Beauty and the Breast" was a great success.

Activity 3

CLINICAL SCREENING AND VACCINATION. PATIENT ASSISTANCE & REFERRAL:Emergency Preparedness: Formed Asian American & Pacific Islander Coalition with 25 members. Developed Asian American & Pacific Islander Coalition on Facebook with over 120 members. Gave Flu Shots to 512 individuals from various Asian Pacific communities.Hepatitis B Prevention: During 2010 FY, APCA hosted multiple health events to provide free HBV screening and vaccination services to the community. 480 people were screened during 2010 FY. APCA directed individuals who were tested reactive to medical resources for future treatments.
