Activity 2

Group Residence Program - .We assisted 74 individuals in need of emergency housing. This represented 24 single moms, 4 older adults and 46 children. Approximately 50 of single parents and older women came from a homeless shelter. In addition to our case management and basic essentials our collaborative partners include Parkland HOMES mental health counseling, Rainbow Days classes for children and summer programs, Vogel Alcove day care for children 5 and under, and various community organization and volunteers. The childrens programs are held weekly at our offices while the moms attend their own classses. The children are learning how to count money, save and, most importantly, make decisions about spending their money. We also provide annual children events School is Cool assisted 230 children in Dallas and 25 out of town. The Dream Achiever scholarship Program offered 2 1,000 scholarships to 2 young adults heading to college. Holiday Hero assisted over 300 families with presents, food, and celebrations.

Activity 3

Homeless Prevention/Rapid Rehousing HPRP - In 2011 we successfully completed our funding commitment from this two year stimulus program - Home-at-Last. This rapid re-housing program, funded in part by a government grant, provided temporary assistance to former homeless clients that were underemployed due to the economy. Assistance included not only financial support but also financial literacy education for participating clients and their children to teach money management skills that are essential in breaking the cycle of first-time homelessness. In 2011 134 persons received short and medium term rental assistance, and 259 persons received relocation/stabilization case management or outreach engagement assistance.
