Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to identify and aid in minimizing the factors of poverty by delivering assistance in the form of services that are responsive to the needs of the community we serve. We accomplish this mission through our utility assistance, short term rental assistance and poverty reduction programs.

The organization's charted mission is to seek and manage various federal and state grant programs and other programs with the purpose of eliminating poverty. Texas neighborhood services fulfills their mission through headstart and utility assistance programs.

TNS' PROMOTED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION BY DELIVERING A COMPREHENSIVE HIGH-QUALITY SCHOOL READINESS CURRICULUM ADDRESSING THE EDUCATIONAL, NUTRITIONAL, HEALTH, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF LOW-INCOME CHILDREN AGES BIRTH TO FIVE AS THE HEAD START/ EARLY HEAD START GRANTEE FOR A NINE COUNTY REGION JUST NORTH, WEST, AND SOUTH OF THE DALLAS/FORT WORTH METROPLEX.TNS OPERATED OVER 79 CLASSROOMS AT 14 DIFFERENT SITES STRATEGICALLY LOCATED THROUGHOUT MINERAL WELLS, GRANBURY, STEPHENVILLE, AZEL, GLEN ROSE, CLEBURNE, CORSICANA, DECATUR, BRIDGEPORT, BOYD, ALVARADO, LILLIAN, AND WEATHERFORD. IN 2016 WE SERVED 1,184 CHILDREN AGES BIRTH TO FIVE, NEARLY ALL OF WHICH ARE FROM FAMILIES LIVING AT OR BELOW THE FEDERAL POVERTY LINE BY COMBINING BEST PRACTICES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH AREA SCHOOL DISTRICTS, SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, AND HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONERS.TNS OFFERS A RANGE OF SERVICES TARGETED TO CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. THESE SERVICES INCLUDE PARENTAL EDUCATION, CRISIS INTERVENTION, COUNSELING, MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE, NUTRITION ASSISTANCE, AND INSTRUCTION TO CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.MANY OF OUR PRESCHOOL CENTERS HAVE PREVIOUSLY ACHIEVED ACCREDITATION FROM THE HIGHLY-REGARDED NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR EDUCATION OF THE YOUNG CHILD (NAEYC).
