“The executive committee of the board of directors is composed of the three voting officers on the board, all living past-presidents of the board, the chair of the finance and audit committee, and 9 other directors elected by the board itself. The executive committee has full power to handle the affairs of the association at any time when the board of directors is not in session. This includes the specific authority to discharge any employee with or without cause, to discharge any officer for cause, and to appoint any director or past president to complete the remainder of the term of any officer who fails to complete their term of office for any reason. The executive committee may meet in person or by teleconference.”

“Tscra is generally exempt from federal income tax under section 501(a) of the internal revenue code (the "code") because it is an organization described in code section 501(c)(6). Income from certain operations of tscra, including advertising in the cattleman magazine, the operations of cri, and certain miscellaneous revenue, has been determined to be taxable for federal income tax purposes. The special ranger foundation, the disaster relief fund, and the leadership development foundation, are generally exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the code, as an organization other than a private foundation. The state pac and federal pac are generally exempt from federal income tax under section 527 of the code. Tax positions are evaluated in a two-step process. The association first determines whether it is more likely than not that a tax position will be sustained upon examination. If a tax position meets the more likely than not threshold, it is then measured to determine the amount of expense to record in the financial statements. The tax position is measured as the largest amount of expense that is greater than 50 percent likely to be realized upon settlement. The association classifies any potential accrued interest recognized on an underpayment of income taxes and any statutory penalties recognized on a tax position taken as miscellaneous expense within management and general expenses. The association has not taken a tax position that, if challenged, would be expected to have a material effect on the consolidated financial statements at december 31, 2024 and 2023. No tax returns are currently under examination by any tax authorities.”
