Additional Explanations

Pt III, Line 2

The prior year Community Development program has been rebranded as Education, Empowerment and Advocacy. This program is an alliance of innovative, responsive place-based programs that keeps reaching further into the community, strengthening its role and strengthening MAUCs impact area. MAUC offers a wide array of critically needed community services that address social determinants of health. The program is funded primarily by public and private grants and its own financial resources. Starting in 2024, the Financial Empowerment and Wealth program was started. The MAUC Homestead Preservation Center is a coordinated central access point for community-based housing related services. MAUC assess the needs and connect the client to a wide range of community partner resources. These may include rent and utility assistance, title clearance, financial capability services, housing counseling, and available housing opportunities, etc. The MHC seeks to measurably strengthen our community by: Connecting income qualifying residents to housing resources fitting to their needs and opportunities, leverage greater investment in housing through the creation of a community land trust on Westside that respect the cultural and historical assets of the Westside and protect vulnerable populations from predatory market activity and prevent involuntary displacement. By clearing title, residents remain in their homes for future generations.

FEDERAL INCOME TAXES MAUC is organized as a Texas nonprofit organization as described in Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Accordingly, no income tax provision has been made in the accompanying financial statements. MAUC has adopted the uncertain tax positions provisions of FASB ASC Topic 740, Income Taxes. The primary tax position of MAUC is its filing status as a tax exempt entity. MAUCs tax returns are subject to examination by the relevant tax authorities until expiration of the applicable statute of limitations which is generally three years after the filing of the tax return. MAUC determined that it is more than likely than not that its tax position will be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service or other State taxing authority. There were no penalties or interest related to income taxes recorded during the year ended December 31, 2024.

Funding for the project was made available from the U.S Department of Commerce, Ford Foundation and the Community Services Administration. The building is leased primarily to health, social service and other non-profit organizations and houses MAUCs administrative offices and programs. The community room and courtyards are often utilized to host community meetings, informational classes and special events.

MAUC assess the needs and connect the client to a wide range of community partner resources. These may include rent and utility assistance, title clearance, financial capability services, housing counseling, and available housing opportunities, etc. The MHC seeks to measurably strengthen our community by: Connecting income qualifying residents to housing resources fitting to their needs and opportunities, leverage greater investment in housing through the creation of a community land trust on Westside that respect the cultural and historical assets of the Westside and protect vulnerable populations from predatory market activity and prevent involuntary displacement. By clearing title, residents remain in their homes for future generations.
