Activity 2

Education: inspired 669 young people around healthy eating in 2012. These youth, from preschol through high school, learned to grow and prepare healthy foods through in-school and after-school education, summer camp programs and trips to te growing hope center. Expanded education for adults, helping people increase their knowledge and skills in growing, cooking and preserving healthy food. In 2012, 132 adults attended 23 workshops held at the growing hope center and around the community. Seven high schoolers built leadership skills over the 1,337 hours they worked with us in the summer, including many spent teaching younger youth about healthy food habits. We empowered community leaders to make a difference in their own places through our garden leadership training; 34 people graduated in 2012, ready to build or expand eight community, school and faith-based gardens.

Activity 3

Garden programs: helped citizens revitalize neighborhoods through gardening. Through growing gardens, growing hope provided support to 132 affiliated household members and 22 community garden members
