Austin Helps Honduras supports scholarships for children and young adults living in several low-income colonias in Juticalpa Honduras. Following devastation from Hurricane Mitch in Central Honduras in 1998 that left thousands homeless AHH helped build infrastructure for Colonia Solidaridad housing water system electricity sewer system school building in 1999-2000 and hundreds of hurricane refugees moved into the new community. After construction projects wrapped up in 2000 AHH segued into scholarship support for the communitys children. In 2020 AHH added support for students in neighboring colonias and continued support for older teens as they aspired to attend local universities and trade schools. In 2022 AHH added support for students in Juticalpa commercial truck driver certification program.
