Formed for the purpose of supporting the efforts of the texas nurses association and the texas nurses foundation to improve the health care system through administering a competency evaluation program of persons working as nurse aides in long term care facilities that participate in the federal medicare and medicaid programs.

Matters. Naces plus foundation, inc. Has no employees of its own. Naces plus foundation, inc. Does not have a process for determining compensation of its own, but follows the policy set by texas nurses association. The board of directors of texas nurses association conducts an annual performance review of the executive director and determines any appropriate increase in base salary as well as whether or not to award any additional discretionary salary in the form of a bonus based on performance. The executive director determines the base salary for all other staff compensation, and reviews those annually to determine what increases or bonuses should be awarded.

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

Texas a&m university contracted with naces to complete reliability testing for a care needs screening and assessment instrument for the texas children's health plan star kids medicaid-managed care plan. Naces recruited and contracted with 32 registered nurses in four major cities to administer the instrument with children who have special health needs. Nurses were oriented to administration of the instrument and completed over 400 face-to-face assessments from november 2015 to april 2016. This project is complete.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The most significant tax positions of naces plus are its assertion that it is exempt from income taxes and its determination of whether any amounts are subject to unrelated business income tax (ubit). Management has determined that naces plus had no activity subject to ubit during the year ended june 30, 2016. All significant tax positions have been considered by management and it has determined that it is more likely than not that all tax positions would be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities.

THE PROJECT IS A VOLUNTARY PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS RESIDENTS OF NURSING FACILITIES, STATE SUPPORTED LIVING CENTERS AND INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITIES TO MOVE TO A MORE INDEPENDENT LIVING ENVIRONMENT AND RECEIVE SERVICES FROM DADS TO ALLOW THEM TO STAY IN THE LESS INSTITUTIONAL SETTING. THE PROJECT REQUIRES A FACE TO FACE QUESTIONNAIRE TO BE CONDUCTED PRIOR TO THE MOVE TO THE NEW SETTING AND FOLLOW UP FACE TO FACE SURVEYS AT 11 AND 24 MONTHS FROM THE INITIAL QUESTIONNAIRE. THESE SURVEYS ARE COMPLETED BY A REGISTERED NURSE, LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE OR SOCIAL WORKER. THERE WERE 452 SURVEYS COMPLETED IN FISCAL YEAR 2015-2016.

NACES RECRUITED AND CONTRACTED WITH 32 REGISTERED NURSES IN FOUR MAJOR CITIES TO ADMINISTER THE INSTRUMENT WITH CHILDREN WHO HAVE SPECIAL HEALTH NEEDS. NURSES WERE ORIENTED TO ADMINISTRATION OF THE INSTRUMENT AND COMPLETED OVER 400 FACE-TO-FACE ASSESSMENTS FROM NOVEMBER 2015 TO APRIL 2016. THIS PROJECT IS COMPLETE.

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TEXAS NURSES ASSOCIATION CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND DETERMINES ANY APPROPRIATE INCREASE IN BASE SALARY AS WELL AS WHETHER OR NOT TO AWARD ANY ADDITIONAL DISCRETIONARY SALARY IN THE FORM OF A BONUS BASED ON PERFORMANCE. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DETERMINES THE BASE SALARY FOR ALL OTHER STAFF COMPENSATION, AND REVIEWS THOSE ANNUALLY TO DETERMINE WHAT INCREASES OR BONUSES SHOULD BE AWARDED.
