“The compensation review process is performed annually. All physician compensation is reviewed including pay, production data and total compensation. The physician compensation is then benchmarked against industry standards using data from ten different industry surveys. This review is performed by an independent consultant and presented to the Scott & White Healthcare Board of Trustees Compensation Committee. Scott & White Healthcare ("SWHC")(EIN: 26-4532547) is the sole corporate member of SWHB. System Officers along with regional Chief Executive Officers and Chief Medical Officers are reviewed annually. An independent consultant compares total compensation to benchmark surveys. Effective March 1, 2014, BSW Holdings LLC was merged into BSW Holdings. SWHB is a comprehensive community medical center with 60 licensed beds, and an affiliate of Baylor Scott & White Health, a nationally acclaimed network of acute care hospitals and related health care entities providing personalized health and wellness through exemplary care, education and research as a Christian ministry of healing.SWHB provides access to quality medical services including areas of excellence such as cardiology, geriatrics, women's services and outpatient care. SWHB serves it patients through their primary care clinics, emergency department and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Some of these services are provided despite a financial loss to SWHB. During the calendar year ended December 31, 2013, SWHB admitted 1,649 inpatients resulting in a total of 5,963 days of care, performed 354 deliveries and had 16,338 emergency department visits.As part of its charitable mission, SWHB is committed to providing free and/or subsidized care to both financially and medically indigent patients in the community. During the year, SWHB reported community benefits (as reported to the Texas Department of State Health Services and in accordance with the State of Texas Statutory methodology) of $10,696,682. SWHB provided community benefits (as reported to the Internal Revenue Service Form 990, Schedule H) of $1,189,081 during the tax year. The Texas Annual Statement of Community Benefit Standard includes approximately $8,132,486 of unreimbursed cost of Medicare that is not included in the IRS Form 990, Schedule H. |
