Volunteers are vital to our organization and they enhance our ability to fulfill our mission. In fact, without our volunteers, we could not run our program effectively. Our organization utilizes volunteers in a variety of capacities including senior partners (mentors), activity volunteers, event committee members, board/advisory council members, interns and general event/office volunteers. They come from all walks of life and age groups. In 2014, 495 volunteers contributed 17,054 hours; valued at 384,568 (value of volunteer time per independentsector.org is 22.55/hr). Of that, 14,819 hours was volunteer time dedicated to supporting youth. The value of volunteer time is equivalent to over half our budget.

School based mentoring is the fastest growing type of mentoring program used nationally. We have partnered with the poudre school district to launch this mentoring program. The goal of the program is to provide youth with a positive mentoring relationship that will help them build personal assets and protective factors, leading to good choices and decreased negative behaviors. Specific focus is on academic success, decreased acceptance of interpersonal violence, delinquent behavior and acceptance of alcohol and drug use. In addition to 97,941 in grant funding, we rely on public funding through individual, corporate and foundation gifts to operate our mentoring program.
