Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part III, Line 2

The foundation has started the nurses on boards grant program which is funded through fnsna. The purpose of the grants are to advance recommendations of the 2010 institutes of medicine future of nursing report by preparing nurses for board service. The program began as a collaborative project by texas team action coalition and texas health trustees.

Form 990, Part III, Line 3

The foundation ended the academic progression grant. This was a two-year continuation of the prior grant from august 2012 through august 2014.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The most significant tax positions of the foundation are its assertion that it is exempt from income taxes and its determination of whether any amounts are subject to unrelated business income tax (ubit). Management has determined that the foundation had no activity subject to ubit during the year ended june 30, 2017. All significant tax positions have been considered by management and it has determined that it is more likely than not that all tax positions would be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities.
