Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 4

New standard bylaws were adopted and approved in 2014. For the election of board of directors new voting policies, procedures, and rules were approved by the Board so that the credit union's election process would comply with the new bylaws. Term limits were added for Board of Directors during 2014.

The Credit Union's members have rights to elect the members of the governing body. The Credit Union's members also receive a share of the organization's profits in the form of cash dividends.

- Members of the Credit Union have the right to elect one or more members of the organization's governing body, whether periodically, or as vacancies arise or otherwise.

Members of the Credit Union have the right to approve the governing body's election and removal of members of the governing body, as well as other matters that are subject to the approval of members of the credit union as they occur.

IRS990ScheduleI/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0A scholarship committee reviews the prospective recipients' applications for completeness and based on the criteria set by the credit union board of directors the scholarship committee awards the approved, qualified college students a $500 scholarship. Monies are paid to the college or university directly where the students are enrolled for the recipients' benefit for the semester. In 2014 the credit union agreed to contribute monies to the Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation to grant scholarships to selected college students meeting the qualification criteria attending local educational institutions. The credit union has three representatives serve on the Scholarship Program's selection committee, an attendee at all Scholarship Program related events and receives a list of the recipients names.
