Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The board of directors assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit of the alliance safety council's financial statements and selection of an independent accountant.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

On january 1, 2009, the council adopted the provisions of interpretation ("fin") no.48, "accounting for uncertainty in income taxes-an interpretation of fasb statement no. 109" (asc 740). Asc 740 prescribes a new threshold for determining when an income tax benefit can be recognized, which is a higher threshold than the one imposed for claiming deductions on income tax returns. The adoption of asc 740 did not have any impact on the council's financial statements. The council's federal information return is subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities until the expiration of the related statute of limitations on the information return. In general, the federal information return has a three year statute of limitations. The council would recognize accrued interest and penalties associated with uncertain tax positions, if any, as part of the income tax provision.
